@Colonthreee Yeah, it highly depends :) I remember adding extra geo for vegetation, we literally had a tool that converted alpha to vertices. Oldschool transparency was no-no, especially on older mobile platforms :) But even on modern automotive hw, overdraw was the perf killer.

@AgileJebrim It's kinda for hobby / amateur / teaching. But many layers of it are used in industry too. Not ALL layers require "super-mega-real-time" stuff. kinematic servo control or E-stop are usually not handled by ROS. But there are plenty of systems around the robot above those.
