a heartbeat is an observable byproduct of having a physical thing pumping blood around a living body. it remains unclear if that’s necessary for ai……….. and in-built instincts are just reactions to stimuli. as described, every application ever written, so long as it was water (or blood) cooled, is sentient. not sure that’s what sentient means.
