Quantum computing isn't just the future. It's here. ⚛️ Three days at the Universidad de Costa Rica. More than 400 applicants. Teams from across Latin America building quantum solutions for real problems — clean water, resilient power grids, energy materials. Quantathon CR 2026 brought the Open Quantum Institute's quantum for good mission to Central America — co-organized by the @OQI_at_CERN , @UniversidadCR and Dojo Coding, with @QuantinuumQC as Official Quantum Computing Technology Partner. Thank you to everyone who showed up to build. ⛩️
Estos son los ganadores del Quantathon CR 2026, el primer hackathon de computación cuántica de Costa Rica. Kraken se llevó el Challenge 1 con una red eléctrica más resiliente, usando datos reales del ICE. Quantumtenango ganó el Challenge 2 prediciendo la potabilidad del agua con machine learning cuántico, y se llevó el trofeo para Guatemala. Quanthum in Silico cerró con el Challenge 3, simulando los materiales de la próxima generación de energía limpia. Gracias al Open Quantum Institute by CERN y a la UCR por construir esto con nosotros, y a Connecta B2B, IT Now, Quantinuum e IEEE Computer Society Costa Rica por acompañarnos.
