@CJVogel_OTF If they don't lose to a 4-8 Florida team they'll probably be okay

@TrackCoachJones "If" I were to have a team do this, and it'd probably be a Varsity level team, I'd do timed intervals rather than distance. That allows more to accomplish it. 2:30 CV-10min tempo-2x5min thresh-2:30 CV. Close to 8K for a competitive boy. About 6K for a competitive girl.

My parents, grandparents, siblings, coaches, and teachers, were all major influencers in my life. Not one of them did so through TikTok, Instagram, or any other social media. Most importantly, not one of them called themselves “influencers”. The greatest influence is authentic.

I'm a recovering alcoholic. 21 years of sobriety on Aug 8. There's a mantra said at the end of AA meetings: "Keep coming back. It works if you work it." I'm a high school XC coach. I think the same exact mantra is true for the kids. "Keep coming back. It works if you work it."

@CoachGaryB1 And sometimes it's fun as a coach just to watch the shock hit their faces as they step into the water

There's something about that pre-practice 20 minutes, followed by 10-15 minutes of rest, followed by another warmup, that's working far better for me than what I've always done in my own training. What kind of science might back up what I'm experiencing?

So, then I generally am pacing a group through their workout that fits in with my training paces. And what I've noticed in my workout is that I'm feeling FAR better than I would if I just did my normal 20 minute warmup, some drills and strides. (cont)

@Dr_ChrisHobbs I'm a 5-4-2. However, my coffee is strong, but I like a good amount of heavy cream. We agree on toast. But, I've gots to have red in the middle of my ribeye.

Beginning year #16 as a Head XC & Distance coach. If there's one specific thing I've learned, that I think might be just a notch above everything else, it's this: As a coach, your presence will always be more important than your training plan.
