When will Anthropic board/shareholders pressure Dario resign as CEO? Such fatal misjudgments/strategic errors/self inflicted crisis, driven by god complex, arrogance, hubris, & not-so-subtle racism towards Chinese, which makes at least half of the industry + most of his fiercest competitors.

I'm sorry, I can't take this seriously. A few months ago, I wrote a post titled "Anthropic is losing the mandate of heaven." Two hours after I published it, they got hit with an export ban because they didn't even consent to how the government wanted to use Claude models for *defense*, an arena where governments should be the sole arbiters (monopoly over the use of force). An arena where private companies should have no fucking opinions whatsoever. And now we're supposed to believe Dario when he says he is eager for government oversight? It means giving up control, which Anthropic has shown absolutely *no signs* of wishing to do, at any point in their history. I was a huge fan and admirer of Anthropic until 6 months ago. But over the time since, I've gotten increasingly disillusioned and tired of this EA-derived bullshit. One of three things is going on: 1. he doesn't realize that inviting regulation doesn't mean only regulation that *he likes* (it's happened before — Anthropic has repeatedly overplayed their hand) 2. this is blatantly duplicitous — possibly intending regulatory capture, especially by vilifying open source models (which are eating into their market share) 3. he is nervous about Codex, Grok, and even Muse catching up to Claude models and this is an attempt to disrupt the competitive dynamic by any means possible (the same way the US military's goal in foreign interventions is often not "victory" but rather "disrupt the formation of a competing power") I'm very curious if anyone has a fourth theory, because right now all of those possibilities are driving me up the wall.

Anthropic wouldn’t exist without Google open sourcing the transformers papers. Google could have filed for a patent and gained an AI monopoly. Anthropic trying to eliminate open source when it is built on open source is ironic and not in a fun way.
