@daveythiessen That’s not Prevenient grace and you’re redefining it while misusing the term and ripping it from its historical usage.
In Arminianism, we confess that God has determined salvation to be conditional based on faith alone in Christ alone, and so when man "reaches" out in faith, God saves him, but come to find out, he was only able to do so because God preveniently (prior to him moving) freed his will (from the shackles of sin). So, really, man is only ever responding to God's first act. A picture representing this would be the hand as God the Father, and the Holy Spirit working within the man to reach out, coming to Him through His Son, Jesus. I appreciate the tag, Lizzie! In the words of John Wesley, "Whatsoever good is done in man or found in man, God is the author and doer of it" (sermon on Free Grace).
@realJennaEllis The caption of this seems to go far beyond the debate over Arminianism v Calvinism. This is pure works-based heresy. God came down to us. While we were still sinners and not seeking Him, He died for us. We were dead in our trespasses. Our salvation is not dependent on us
@daveythiessen You don't believe that God gives you grace prior to you believing?
@daveythiessen It's not at all.

@uribrito Nor to be cowards and refuse to call your friends out for their sins
As a pastor, Mondays are my favorite day of the week. Sunday is completed and was encouraging/refreshing. A whole new week is ahead of me and sermon prep officially begins where my job is literally to dive into God's Word and better understand it, and then in the evening, dinner with my family. Soli Deo Gloria.
If John Wesley’s diaries are remotely accurate, the man had an apostolic ministry. Evangelizing unreached peoples, turning Americans & Brits, slandered & stoned (literally), miraculously preserved in mobs, sent before authorities, heard in healing prayers…
I truly don’t think Jay is saved, because, “you shall know them by their fruits.” But he can be by faith alone in Christ alone.
Behold the fruit of OrthoBro’ism. A thread 🧵
Women must be held accountable
“I killed your sibling and you can kill my grandchild one day” is certainly a take.
@ProvisionistP @DPGBehler @jdpritchett @TheDog620 @Soteriology101 The funny thing is that your god didn’t even know that he was gonna say that 😆
@ProvisionistP @jdpritchett @DPGBehler @TheDog620 @Soteriology101 But he still debates. Unlike someone…
@Jeff_Palouse It was. And pagans who marry pagans are valid marriages but they’re not sacraments. Sacraments are specifically what Christ commissioned His Church to administer.
Why isn't Marriage a Sacrament? Because it belongs to the creational order and it existed prior to the Church. It's also for unbelievers as well.
@Jeff_Palouse I do. But my point is that the majority of marriages are done by pagans. But they’re valid.
Paul also calls Jesus a mystery in Colossians 2:2. The resurrection is also a mystery in 1 Corinthians 15:51. Israel’s future conversion is also called a mystery (Romans 11:25). The mere word doesn’t denote what is what the West calls a sacrament. A sacrament is what Christ instituted and commissioned His Church to administer. Marriage already existed and belongs to creation.
But those are invalid baptisms. But unbelievers are validly married because it’s apart of the creation order, whereas baptism isn’t. You must admit, this is the more Biblically defensible position. Even think too, how many unbelievers are married outside the church? Sacraments require the minister. Marriage doesn’t.
@Jeff_Palouse Unbelievers get married and have since creation
@HerMajestyJakO @howertonjosh Appreciate it!
In case some are misreading this, I'm not criticizing @howertonjosh I'm just having fun. I like a lot of what he says and I appreciate him. May God continue to bless Pastor Howerton.
