@pnattmbtc_ @Soteriology101 …the necessary result of the divine predetermination (Luk_22:22), to which divine δεῖ (Luk_24:26) the personally free action of man had to serve as an instrument.” That’s exactly what I’m arguing for, that God predetermined the acts of the people listed in Acts 4:27-28z
@pnattmbtc_ @Soteriology101 hand means and it’s not about the joining of the acts and God’s predetermined plan. Meyer even goes on to state a pro-Calvinist conclusion(given compatibilist free will). “The death of the Lord was not the accidental work of hostile caprice, but (comp. Act_2:23, Act_3:18)…
@pnattmbtc_ @Soteriology101 The problem is the cases and grammar here. Pilate, Herod, the Gentiles and peoples of Israel are the nominative case(the subjects). ποιῆσαι(to do) would then have to be referring to the subjects. I’m not going to argue that others could have done the crucifixion, as that is…
@Jondaphemp @ThugLifeSproul You mean the context from the thread you linked in your original post? 😭
@pnattmbtc_ @Soteriology101 I appreciate you responding here, I have a busy day today but I will also respond to the Greek as well, maybe not today. It may have gotten a little contentious, and I apologize for that, thanks for your responses, I will be responding and addressing them.
@pnattmbtc_ @Soteriology101 He goes further when talking about God’s hand. “Thou hadst determined of thine absolute authority and power” - New Testament Annotations
@pnattmbtc_ @Soteriology101 Don’t know where you got the Theodore Beza thing from, but this is a direct quote from him on Acts 4:27-28 “The wicked execute God's counsel, though they think nothing of it, but they are not therefore without fault.” - New Testament Annotations
@pnattmbtc_ @Soteriology101 Please see the thread under this. x.com/pnattmbtc_/sta…
@LightCSV @Soteriology101 Did you read what I wrote? Can you state what the points are? From what you wrote it’s not at all clear you read it. Please write out the points that were made. Also, if you haven’t already done so, please write out your understanding of Matt 6:15.
@pnattmbtc_ @Soteriology101 “not because God scripted the murder, but because rebellion, confronted with the full revelation of divine love, does what rebellion does.” You’re going to need actual scripture to back this claim up, that God did not predestine the crucifixion.
@pnattmbtc_ @Soteriology101 “And notice: they tried earlier. The Nazareth crowd drove Him to the cliff. They took up stones in John 8 and again in John 10. Each time, His hour had not yet come.” Almost like his death and crucifixion were predestined, like scripture says.
@pnattmbtc_ @Soteriology101 “As I pointed out earlier there are at least 5 standard interpretations (ie from well known commentaries, not something out of left field)” How about you list the commentaries for actual clarity instead of ambiguously appealing to them.
@jdpritchett @DPGBehler Well, I did ask Dr. Flowers this question. I didn’t get a response. From my understanding, Mr. Behler is a Provisionist, but I could be wrong. Obviously the focus of this question was having to do with what semi-Pelagianism was, and how it was denounced at the Council of Orange.
@pnattmbtc_ @Soteriology101 “The idea that God plans or predestines evil acts is absurd on its face.” Those are your words. Now read Acts 4:27-28 one more time for me. Did God plan the crucifixion of Jesus?
@pnattmbtc_ @Soteriology101 What part of this was exegesis? It’s you quoting the verse and then arguing that God cannot do exactly what the verses say he does 🤣 x.com/pnattmbtc_/sta…
@LightCSV @Soteriology101 Acts 4:28 says Herod and Pilate did "whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done." A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit. God is good. The idea that God plans or predestines evil acts is absurd on its face. A good person does not plan evil deeds. Here's
@pnattmbtc_ @Soteriology101 …ability to do so with any scripture and haven’t exegeted a single text I’ve presented.
@pnattmbtc_ @Soteriology101 I understand your pontification and lack of exegesis. You write in long paragraphs about your opinions not backed up by scripture, then twist my words, then expect me to answer your questions. How about you actually exegete Matthew 6 and make your point, since you’ve shown no…
@pnattmbtc_ @Soteriology101 All this talk and you have yet to exegete a single piece of scripture. Instead you make bad faith claims about someone who’s taken the time to respond to everything before.
