Happy to report a new TRPV1 agonist MSP20, which binds to the vanilloid site and desensitizes TRPV1. Our structural and preclinical studies highlight the potential of MSP20 as a long-lasting analgesic with neuroprotective effects. nature.com/articles/s4146…

This year, the Cryo-EM subgroup will honor a mid/senior-career woman scientist as the inaugural June Almeida awardee. June Almeida is the virologist who first discovered the coronavirus in 1967 using negative stain electron microscopy. Her story, like many women we know, is remarkable. womenshistory.org/education-reso… It is in the spirit of June Almeida’s innovative research that this award is named. The awardee, in addition to receiving an honorarium, will present their research at the BPS CryoEM Subgroup Symposium.
