All of this has been proven effective in cities with similar systems to Toronto, like Melbourne. Even if we can’t do it right away, why not plan for it? #ttc #ttcriders #topoli #torontotransit

Road closures in Toronto heavily affect the streetcar network, sometimes for months at a time. The upcoming 504 diversion on King West is a prime example of this. The work being done is important—there’s no denying that—but it also causes a lot of disruption to transit riders.

Both. A track replacement is typically scoped and priced years ahead, and adding new switch designs and controls means changing specs and finding money that wasn’t in the budget. The best and cheapest time to ask is before the next replacement is designed, so hopefully action is taken soon.

Crews are currently replacing streetcar tracks on King West that have reached their end of life. During this work, we *should* be installing newer double-point switch designs and modern control systems.

Operators would be able to quickly change and verify switches electronically, without ever having to leave the drivers seat. That means more time moving and less time stopping. Follow us to help bring Toronto’s streetcars into the future. #ttc #ttcriders #topoli #torontotransit

Both of these changes would make your commute faster by: 1) Ending the need to stop at each switch to confirm the direction 2) Eliminating the 10 km/h speed restriction through switches

The TTC has released a survey on proposed updates to their service standards. It includes various changes to reliability, crowding, and best of all, streetcar stop spacing, which is one of the 10 items in our plan!

Yesterday, Sep. 21, we sent pledges out to a total of 175 city council candidates running in the 2026 Toronto municipal election. Candidates were asked whether they will work implement the policies from our 10-point plan if they win on Oct. 26 🙋

FastTrackTO has learned that the posted speed limits for buses on the brand new Scarborough Busway will be 30 km/h near stations and signals. 🐌 This is disappointing, and reduces travel time savings that the busway is meant to provide. Especially re: any express buses.

@MichaelLeoM @LongBranchMike1 @MayorOliviaChow @CllrJamaalMyers @CllrAmberMorley @ttcriders Yes, however, buses do not slow down when passing bus stops on city streets. Neither is any other road vehicle required to. Why treat this differently?

@NickAnand82 It is only surrounding the stations where the 30 km/h limit applies. However, this makes up a noteworthy portion of the busway, as it’s a few hundred meters before and after each station.

@TransitNews1 It’s for a few hundred meters before and after stations as well. So it ends up being a noteworthy chunk of the busway.

The speed limits need to be increased to 60 km/h, because riders deserve the faster commute times that they were promised. 🚌💨 #torontotransit #ttc #TOpoli #transit #toronto

Every day on city streets, cars, trucks, and TTC buses are allowed to drive past bus stops and traffic lights at full speed. Why should the Scarborough Busway be treated any differently?
