From production to the products and infrastructure that power our everyday lives, Oil & Gas 101 continued through the energy value chain this afternoon! 🛢️ Our final sessions brought attendees a closer look at the operations, processes and people connecting energy production to end users. 🔄Midstream | Jon Determan, Western Midstream Determan explored the role of midstream operations in the energy value chain, highlighting how natural gas, crude oil and produced water are gathered, treated and processed, along with the infrastructure development needed to support growing energy demand. ⛽Refining | David Roeder, @Phillips66 Roeder explored the fundamentals of refining, highlighting the processes that transform crude oil into the fuels and everyday products that support transportation, industry and modern life. 📦Supply Chain | Milton Jones, @DeloitteUS Jones explored the evolving energy supply chain, highlighting how AI, digital technologies and interconnected operations can help companies improve efficiency, strengthen supply chain resilience and support informed decision-making. 🌐Energy Expansion – What You Do Matters | Chuck Chauviere, @HMHGlobal Chauviere closed the seminar with a look at the evolving global energy landscape, emphasizing the importance of energy advocacy and the need to ensure reliable, affordable energy for the future. Day 2 of Oil & Gas 101 is underway! 🙌 Building on yesterday's exploration of the industry's foundations and upstream operations, today's sessions are expanding the conversation to the technologies, infrastructure and energy sources supporting oil and gas operations. This morning, attendees heard from industry experts on: ⚙️AI, Data Centers & Power Demand | Justin Stark and Andy Bhattacharya, @Accenture Stark and Bhattacharyya explored how the rapid growth of AI and data centers is driving demand for power, highlighting the infrastructure, technologies and workforce needed to support this expansion. ⚡Energy Sources That Power the Oilfield | Darin Bohlmann, @CaterpillarInc Bohlmann explored how oilfield power needs vary across drilling, completions and production, highlighting the different power systems used throughout operations and emerging technologies helping the industry meet growing energy demand. 🌊 Subsea Infrastructure | Mike Robinson, @TechnipFMC Robinson provided an overview of subsea infrastructure and its role in offshore oil and gas production, highlighting how engineering, equipment design and environmental conditions influence the development and operation of offshore fields. From growing power demand to the infrastructure supporting energy production, today's discussions are highlighting the interconnected systems and technologies that keep the industry moving. Yost walked attendees through the drilling process and the role rig systems play in safely and efficiently bringing a well online. ⚙️ Completions & Flow Equipment | Michael Dardis, SLB Dardis explored completions and flow equipment, highlighting the technologies and innovations helping improve efficiency, reduce emissions and advance oilfield operations.   Together, these sessions highlighted how the industry moves from identifying resources beneath the surface to drilling, completing and ultimately bringing a well into production. Kicking off the seminar was EWTC President Molly Determan, who shared an Industry Overview, focusing on the companies, technologies and workforce that move energy from exploration and production through midstream and downstream operations. Determan also explored the broader forces shaping the sector, including policy, workforce development, and innovations influencing the sector. Following the Industry Overview was: 📈 Energy Market Outlook | Daniel Romito, @OpportuneLLP Romito provided a look at the forces shaping the energy market, from economic and geopolitical dynamics to growing power demand and the infrastructure needed to support it. 📚 History of the Industry | Andrew Kuchta, FET Kuchta traced the evolution of the oil and gas industry, highlighting the discoveries, technologies and innovations that transformed how energy is produced and delivered today. 🌎 Geology & Seismic | Andrew Royle, @Chevron Andrew broke down how companies use geology and seismic technology to understand what lies beneath the surface and identify where oil and gas may be found. Today, the Energy Workforce & Technology Council released its September 2026 jobs report. Energy services employment totaled 644,486 jobs in September, an increase of 5,421 positions from August. “Meeting energy demand takes skilled people. September’s employment increase underscores the role of the energy services workforce in supporting production and reliable supply,” said Energy Workforce President Molly Determan. “Energy services companies continue to be deliberate in their hiring, adding workers where they see sustained customer demand rather than staffing up quickly in response to short-term market movements.” 🔗 Read the full report: energyworkforce.org/september-jobs…
