Prediction Update for the August 12, 2026 Eclipse: eclipse.predsci.com We are 1 week from totality! We have some exciting updates! Our data-assimilative model has been running in near real time and updating our prediction for over 15 days. The predicted coronal structure has changed over this time, which you can view in the movies on our web site. See What's New for new features of the 2026 model. We began assimilating Solar Orbiter (SO) PHI FDT vector magnetograms on August 1 (special thanks to the SO PHI team). SO is on the solar far side as viewed from Earth, moving close to the east limb on Eclipse day. This will provide an unprecedented opportunity to model coronal structures on the solar east limb with updated data during a total solar eclipse (see our Solar Orbiter Page). We now have simulated heliospheric images available for SO/SoloHI, Parker/WISPR, STEREO/SECCHI/HI, and PUNCH, and coronal imaging for Proba-3/ASPIICS . This work is supported by NASA and NSF. We are grateful to Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) for providing a dedicated allocation at the LaPalma supercomputer and proud to support the North African Telescope Eclipse (NATE) project, led by IAC. We also gratefully acknowledge dedicated resources from the ACCESS program and Expanse supercomputer at the San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC), and NASA's Advanced Supercomputing Division (NAS) for allocations on the Athena supercomputer. We thank the SDO/HMI team and the Solar Orbiter PHI team for providing near-real time vector magnetograms.
