"It should be no surprise that this game is a bit different to other games you may have previously played, given it was designed by the wonderful Bez Shahriari." 😊😊😊 🥰🥰🥰 tabletopgamesblog.com/2023/11/18/las…

thedarkimp.com/blog/2023/11/2… A great article from Ellie Dix about getting the most from a boardgame playtest. (And thanks for the wee shout-out, @EllieDixTweets!)

This is one of my favourite photos. Pure joy, partially facilitated by me. I mean, sure it's about the other people around the table. About the ambiance. Having suitable clothes for the temperature. But the game does make a difference imo. :-p

It's so rare for me to get a picture taken of me playing games, and at a work thing recently my boss took this picture of me playing @stuffByBez's Yogi. This is pretty much my face when playing most board games, which leads me to conclude I'm in the right hobby!

Validation A sense of purpose Intellectual curiousity Love of the medium Money Fame Collaboration. Wanting X to exist. I want to facilitate fun, or spark someone to ponder, or sometimes just see how something works. Some stuff I will design with a more commercial mindset.

ICYMI: I like this comic. Honestly, sometimes it's just cool to know a comic artist (occasionally) engages with one of your other passions. tapas.io/episode/2901117

To me, this evokes memories of the Moomins. Relatively simple art leaves spaces for our imagination to fill in the gaps. But aesthetically, these colours are LUSH. And I also love how the colours are used to draw our eye to the centre of the frame.

I need to hold onto these reminders that I have managed to indirectly spark joy and facilitate fun. That makes me feel proud and super-validated. :-)

Had an absolutely silly & fun time with Yogi by @stuffByBez. You draw a card, follow the instructions (usually related to a pose you must maintain), and keep going round and round adding more instructions to follow until everyone breaks except one. Thanks for the fun game Bez!

Sometimes, I need someone or something to remind me I'm worth taking care of. Because that's something worth me taking time/energy to do.

Would you pay a negligible amount of money to play something I made? Unoriginal rules. New content. Pushed to the limit for a special friend who knows the silliness I'm capable of and trusted me to make something cool. 4-9 players? To be played over a multi-hour dinner event.

"Last Bug Standing in the Circle of Doom! is a great 2-player abstract strategy game that’ll keep you coming back for more." "It’s a really delicious challenge that tickles parts of my brain that other games certainly don’t." tabletopgamesblog.com/2023/11/18/las…

I love this. Not just the execution of the illustration (lovely colours/lines) but also I think I intrinsically love the concepts where we are shown a relatable humanoid with a very different perspective (e.g. very small).

@pissvortex Um, this isn't my job. But yeah, I am feeling sad and vaguely suicidal. But if you genuinely want to ask the US UN rep, I don't think that an 'open letter' on Twitter is likely to reach them. :-/

Riding a bicycle. Distraction. Wire suddently around my wheel. Cart in the middle of the road. Ouch. Got stitches. Will be OK soon. A visceral reminder to be careful and to probably pull over if I'm ever distracted again.

@kathrrak I would also rather keep losing. If I kept winning I might ask if you'd mind if I try offering some strategic hints. :-)

@D_J_Cherry I kinda agree. But if the game is serving no purpose other than bringing us together, why not converse, watch a film, or do anything else? IMO the game needs some 'purpose' within the context of our continued time together. :-)
