Chasing SUB3 Marathon
When you spend months grinding through lonely interval sessions, waking up before dawn for long runs, and scheduling your entire life around training blocks, you aren’t doing it for the finisher medal. You are doing it for one specific, fleeting second.
My dream for next week at the Münster Marathon? It’s the visual waiting for me at the finish line on Prinzipalmarkt. I want to round that final corner, feel the cobblestones under my feet, look up at the giant digital race clock, and see a 2:59staring back at me.
It doesn’t matter if it reads 2:59:15, 2:59:38, or 2:59:59. As long as that first digit is a two, the mission is accomplished.
Standing on the Edge of Sub-3
Seeing that number is the ultimate barrier. It is the dividing line between months of self-doubt and the exact moment where everything finally makes sense. It is the ultimate validation for every blister, every missed social event, and every single time I had to fight my own mind to get out the door.
I know I am getting close to sub-3, but it’s going to be a brutal battle.
To make this dream a reality, I have to lock into a 4:15 min/km pace like a human metronome. Mathematically, 4:16 min/km gets me under the wire, but the marathon always demands a tax. That one-second buffer is my insurance policy for the wind along the canal, the crowded water stations, and the inevitable fatigue.
Welcoming the Dark Places
I am well aware that things will get incredibly dark around kilometer 35. My legs will be screaming at me to stop. My brain will try to convince me that a 3:02 or a 3:05 is still a great time—and it is. But a 3:05 is not the dream I went to sleep thinking about for the last sixteen weeks.
When the wall hits, that digital clock is the only image I will hold onto.
There are absolutely no guarantees next week. The marathon is beautiful because it is unmerciful; it owes us nothing. I could do everything right and still have a bad day. But I am not going to Münster to run a safe race. I am going there to risk it all for the time I truly want.
Everything on the line. Everything for the 2:59. Let's hunt
If you don’t know what to pursue in life right now, pursue yourself. Pursue becoming the healthiest, happiest, most healed, most present, and most confident version of yourself. Then the right path will reveal itself.
“Affect Labeling” may sound like a technical concept, but the practice itself is remarkably simple. It involves putting your current emotional state into words the moment you notice stress rising.
Examples might include statements such as:
“I feel anxious about this presentation.”
“I’m frustrated by this email.”
“I’m feeling pressure from this deadline.”
Although this action seems small, it has a measurable effect inside the brain.
Seeing the finish line at the Münster Half Marathon—I can’t believe it! On Friday, I did a promising race activation. Yesterday, I took it easy on the bike to avoid overtaxing my body. My Whoop showed good recovery.
It was a nice run with normal race pain, but no knee pain. Hopefully, I recover well. Congrats to all participants! I’m really thankful for the race organizers and the support during the race. It was great. Racing with new and old faces was never better. I appreciate it even more after my injury in September 2025.
What’s next?… I don’t know, and that’s good. You never know. Never give up
Your birth certificate is a fact.
Your biological age is a choice.
We track our KPIs, our portfolios, and our conversion rates. But are we tracking the only asset we can’t replace? Our cellular health.
Chronological age is just a tally of how many times you’ve orbited the sun. But Biological Age—the actual functional state of your body—is the real metric of success.
I’ve been using my WHOOP not just as a fitness tracker, but as a "Biological Age" dashboard.
Here is why this shift in perspective changes everything for high-performers:
Energy is the New Currency: You don't "get old," you lose mitochondrial function. By tracking HRV and sleep quality, you aren't just looking at recovery; you’re seeing how fast your body is aging in real-time.
Healthspan > Lifespan: The goal isn't to reach 100 in a hospital bed. It’s to have the cognitive sharpness and physical mobility of a 30-year-old when you're 60. That is what a "Conscious Life" looks like.
Data-Driven Discipline: When you see exactly how a late-night meal or chronic stress spikes your resting heart rate, you stop "guessing" about your health.
You start managing it like a CEO.
90% of your aging is optional.
Most people treat their bodies like a rented car.
They drive it fast, ignore the check engine light, and wonder why it breaks down at 40.
As a High-Performer, your body is not just a vessel.
It is your unfair advantage.
If you want to maintain peak cognitive function, energy, and creativity, you must stop managing time and start managing biological age.
Your chronological age is a fact.
Your biological age is a choice.
Here is how to reverse the clock:
1. The Energy Protocol (Metabolic Flexibility)
Stop eating for convenience. Start eating for cellular repair.
Intermittent fasting isn't about skipping breakfast; it’s about giving your mitochondria time to repair themselves. If you are constantly digesting, you are never repairing.
Action: Keep a 14-16 hour fasting window. High fat, moderate protein, low processed carbs.
2. The 4x4 Structural Reversal
Sitting is the new smoking. It locks joints and shrinks muscles.
To reverse cardiac age by up to 20 years, you need intensity, not just volume.
Action: Implement the "Norwegian 4x4" protocol. 4 minutes of max-effort cardio, 4 minutes of recovery. Repeat 4 times. Do this 2-3 times a week.
3. The Sleep Algorithm (Deep Recovery)
Sleep is not a "negotiable" luxury. It is when your brain washes out metabolic waste. If you sleep 5 hours, you are functioning at 50% capacity, regardless of your intelligence.
Action: 7-8 hours. Total darkness. 18°C (65-68°F). No screens 1 hour before bed.
4. The Focus Meditation
Chronic stress is just accelerated aging.
If your mind is constantly in the future (anxiety) or the past (regret), your cells are aging in the present.
Action: 10 minutes of daily mindfulness or breathwork. Turn your attention inward to lower cortisol.
5. The "Anti-inflammatory" Lifestyle
Aging is inflammation.
Action: Remove industrial seed oils. Add in resistance training to maintain muscle mass—the #1 indicator of longevity.
The Goal: To look, feel, and think better at 50 than you did at 30.
