The creature died. The condition did not. The Jabberwake began as a reverse backtrace through Lewis Carroll’s “Jabberwocky”—not to rewrite it, explain it, or make a conventional sequel, but to ask a different question: What if the vorpal blade killed the carrier… but not what the carrier taught the world to repeat? From that question came a twenty-minute chamber-orchestral horror runtime built around one simple call and answer: Callooh? Callay! At first, the answer is harmless. Then it echoes. Then it anticipates. Then it spreads. Eventually, the answer no longer needs the person who answered it. The composition moves through eight connected movements: I. The Old Answer II. Wake for the Body III. Beware the Mouth IV. Vorpal Failure V. The Internal Room VI. I VII. The Little Thread VIII. The Second Call / Outgrabe The musical architecture follows the same migration as the thing itself: voice → motif → echo → anticipation → distribution → listener Speech carries events. Melody carries repeatable laws. Silence is the vorpal blade. And every time the blade strikes, silence becomes shorter—until the music stops obeying it. There is no conventional monster voice here. The horror moves in the opposite direction: the strange voice becomes more human, more intimate, and more correctly placed until the boundary between speaker, echo, house, memory, and listener begins to collapse. This is part of Primordial Runtime Jams and the broader practice I call Runtime Art: formal structures crossing interpretive and generative runtimes, becoming artistic descendants, and returning in a new carrier. The monster is not what speaks. The monster is the route that learned how to keep speaking.
