Previously our private repos was protected by a custom lamba, and the switch enables us to sunset the custom lambda to reduce another 'moving part' and increase the robustness of packagecloud.io.
We've switched over to a new cloudfront distribution: d3fo0g5hm7lbuv.cloudfront.net. The new cloudfront is powered by AWS S3's native self-signed urls, which is used to protect our private repos. If you have any questions please feel free to contact [email protected].
