The Duo feels like one of those devices people will buy because they want to be seen with the latest thing. That was definitely me five years ago. Now Im still rocking an iPhone 15 and honestly love it. What I’m less sure about is whether the Duo becomes an everyday utility rather than just a gimmick. Maybe there’s a real use case for people who want something like an iPad Mini without carrying a second device. Although for the money, you could just buy an iPhone and an iPad. But I think the actual point is the technology, not the folding phone itself! Apple did a similar thing with the Pro line. Put the expensive, difficult stuff there first, figure out how to make it smaller and cheaper, then it eventually turns up everywhere else.

Spent a few hours this weekend building my own simple video + captions editor with ScreenFlow vibes. I grew up making short films at school with Premiere Pr, then Final Cut when I got my first Mac. But nothing comes close to the simplicity of ScreenFlow for screencasts. I just know all the shortcuts after over a decade of use, but filtering out silences, detecting highlights for short clips and creating captions automatically I really admired from other apps like CapCut. So, instead of paying £22/month, I'll build my own with £90/month of tokens 🤣 Personal Software, amirite @aarondfrancis? 😁
@cpenned It's over at github.com/notrab/whisker but I've got some stuff on a local branch with the record stuff. The automatic highlights are on another branch on that repo atm. It's all a bit of a mess while I experiment 😁
