I started learning Mandarin while living in Guangzhou in 2010. It was the "more useful" choice but it also felt wrong to not be learning the local language. Still regret. Back then I made half-hearted attempts to find resources and came up with nothing. Hope this list will help!

Peeved that Baidu Netdisk has stopped working for me entirely, and is trying to be cute about it by writing 出问题了 (chū wèntí le, "there was a problem") as 粗问题了, where 粗 (cū, "thick; crude") is just a cutesy mispronunciation of 出 You had ONE job and jokes wasn't it.
