Clarity is not a communication style. It is a leadership choice. The best leaders I have worked with all made it. Most people are just too comfortable being vague to get there.
There is a difference between being direct and being a jerk. The leaders who confuse those two things are almost always using that confusion as cover to stay comfortable. Cruelty is not clarity. Clear is just: say the thing, say it to the right person, say it now.
Most leaders are not bad communicators. They are deliberately vague. There is a difference. Thread on why directness is the rarest and most valuable leadership trait I have seen.
