i don't see enough of this, so here again: we're all wondering what the future of work looks like with AI progress, but I'm in constant agony trying to extract OK work from frontier models at "Ultra" settings with levels of detailed context and elaborate feedback that i’ve never given a human in my life (… considering that my job is literally to give feedback) at least up to Sept 2026, public frontiers models are - as they were in 2020 - systems that know a whole lot but are fundamentally quite dumb and unadaptive

this is very true AND 1) ironically the stereotypical AI alignment people are pants on head retarded when it comes to knowledge of the world and how it works (eg geopolitics or economics; they have the most dog-brained liberal takes that are easily falsified with evidence & historical fact) 2) this reflects itself in the biases built into the models 3) the worse the biases they build into the models, the worse the models perform, and the more misaligned they are, thus making the normal people rightly hate them more. notably outside of over sensitive safeguards this is less of a problem with Chinese models.

went to a.... packed outdoor sports bar to eat michelin acclaimed tacos? was wandering around austin, checked the top 50 tacos list, one was 10 mins walk away, figured i'd give it a go. came closer and heard insanely loud music and figured "huh this is a bit weird" anyway the taco truck was indeed in a absolutely rammed sports bar full of super drunk people watching american football; and the tacos were indeed goated. discada style. joint is also called discada. one of the weirdest meals i've ever eaten. very good tho 9.5/10
