Interesting juxtaposition. Anyway I'm sure the Superman brand is in good hands.

A extensive timeline of the VERY long and absurdly troubled production history of WB's The Flash movie Thread 🧵

I might be judging this one on a curve but I found The Mongolian Connection (Drew Thomas, 2019) to be a solidly entertaining buddy actioner. A sampling of some of its nicely impactful and aggressive melees:

#記憶に残る殺陣選手権主演の岡田准一が「撮影3カ月前から殺陣を作っていた」と語る『散り椿』のチャンバラシーンは、木村大作監督も「スピードに関して言えば、岡田さんの殺陣は三船敏郎や勝新太郎を上回る」と絶賛するぐらい素早い（よく見ると瞬間的に腕を伸ばして西島秀俊を掴もうとしてる？）

A fresh round of action shorts - including some brand new Jose Manuel among the assorted knife/gun/fist/purse-fights - most from the last few weeks or months Links below:

Absolutely brilliant This explains Pa Kent heart attack vs tornado death Clark *can’t” save Pa bc there’s nothing he can do, not a lot of depth to that *Should* he expose himself to the people of Kansas? *Should* he deny his father of his dying wish? *Should* he trust him?

For no reason whatsoever, just idly thinking about A.O. Scott’s exit interview as a movie critic and his thoughts on the state of a lot of modern fandom. nytimes.com/2023/03/17/mov…

The original previz for John Wick Chapter 4's nunchuck scene by fight choreographer Jeremy Marinas was so sick and the movie almost 95% stayed true to it, even evolved it with more elegant framing and composition, this is how you do previz to film, 87eleven are GOAT !🔥🙌🙏🥋🔪😮

Roseanne Liang doing a superstar-led action thriller is very exciting. Her short Do No Harm (vimeo.com/294245457) was an awesome showcase of her prowess for the genre; would be cool if she reimagines that concept in her spy film

A much belated (but no less badass) round of action shorts, mostly from the last month. Dream War feels like a strong contender for one of 2023’s best, and after Fury Has An Anthem, I need to see more from Kiera O'Connor and director/choreographer James Newman Links below:
