aaj kuch padhne ki motivation kyu nhi aarhi
once it detects repeated failures, it stops sending requests to the unhealthy service for some time. the rest of the system can continue working, maybe with cached data or a fallback response. also these chain of failures are called "Cascading failures"
if the feed keeps calling the profile service, those requests can keep waiting and consume resources. this can eventually affect the feed and even other services like recommendations and notifications. this is where a circuit breaker helps.
studied about circuit breakers today and realised how useful they are in real world systems, to understand this better let me explain with an example: let’s take a social media app. suppose the profile service is overloaded and starts responding slowly or failing.
current update: pivoted from the ai/ml side for now and focusing on system design.
