Genuine question. I often see people buying luxury watches worth ₹5 lakh, ₹10 lakh, even ₹50 lakh and I wonder why they do it. Not judging anyone. I can buy one too if I really want. But something in my upbringing stops me from spending that kind of money on a watch. Strangely, I’ve bought gold worth lakhs without hesitation. But when it comes to watches my brain just says “No, this is unnecessary.” Yes, I understand Rolex and a few brands hold resale value. But most watches don’t. They’re basically a luxury expense. So what drives people psychologically? Is it status? Confidence? Rewarding themselves? Social signalling? Collecting? Or something deeper, like owning a piece of engineering, art, or identity? I’m sure many people face this same internal dilemma. You can buy it but something in your mind blocks you. Would love to know, why do people buy ultra-expensive watches, and what’s the psychology behind it?

Our tax policy is simple: You can’t tax the poor because they’re votes. You won’t tax the rich because they’re donations. Squeeze as much as possible, for as long as possible… from the same middle-class family…because they are voiceless.
