Was wondering where my Codex usage went to... checked in on a long running Amp orb, and found my answer. I don't often use Astra now, preferring GPT-6 Sol medium, but amp medium will juice that Astra. There is a mode dial to tune this, but I much prefer when the Amp team does this with the new models, so can't wait to see GPT-6 Sol/Luna, and Opus 5.5, make its way to us by default. 5.6 Terra was a big Amp bet, but that seems to not be something OpenAI is paying as much attention to now.

think you're misunderstanding. its not about complexity. you just ask yourself, is this worth a weekend hack, or not. sometimes it isn't (back then). and sometimes it is now (in hours). i work on complex infrastructure software you likely use daily, and we have backlogs, but now, some hacks can truly become reality. or put another way, sometimes we have these infinite idea files... now we just convert them to actual code ;)

Yup. They’re strong models. I have no doubt they perform better than Gemini flash 3.6 :P Spot on about shopee/lazada. There’s thought of connecting a phone to the computer, to also allow things like Grab search… but I’m trying to do things like a complete normal, average, user. And the region, things are different. Indonesia has tokopedia/gojek that can deliver almost as quick as Amazon fresh. So it’s interesting to see how grok bot (and muse) will be used by the average person. Any personal agent, really.

Have not tried this with Muse (for obvious reasons), but Grok Bot - tell it to go find something available retail, it's not that great. Why? Because we're living in a part of the world where you don't have Amazon/Walmart/better online inventory. You can tell it to poll, but you might find that you're better off being lucky manually polling. That aside, Gemini 3.6 Flash (yes, I said 3.6) can also do a similar search for you. Note I did not even bother trying with stronger models, i.e. stuff from OpenAI or Anthropic. So a lot of the wow experiences also depend on having wow infrastructure which Malaysia isn't bad at, but isn't great at, either. P/S: you can try these searches for say an iPhone 18 Pro, or a Uniball Zento 0.7mm pen, or even a bottle of 2L Farm Fresh Milk.

To be sufficiently useful at tests, one must try giving it stuff you know is harder to find retail. Malaysia seems to only stock up to 0.5mm Zento. I also like 1.0mm Sarasa, but you'll be lucky to even find 0.7mm Sarasa. And now, a good test is the iPhone 18 (won't be useful forever sadly!).

I use codex daily, and just discovered there is a /vim mode. How many other cool things exist, that we just don't know about for months on end, because of the shipping velocity that OpenAI & other frontier labs have?

@kbsingh I don't know, re: the reverse engineer the entire platform yet - it might just work with a competent engineer (not that i've tried - would be interesting to see if this sort of thing actually "just works", i.e. we can fix everything)

@morganlinton They’re defaulting to medium, is there a reason you’re choosing low? (To be clear I was using previous opus at low, also preferring to use low, but decided this cycle to try what the default is)
