@joebonthuys @LeeBeeSW ST holders acting as touts are a different problem and harder to fix, because it's so easy and free for them to transfer a ticket to any digital member. This fix is targeting ballot winners and exchange winners, who I believe are the far larger problem for the club, currently.

@joebonthuys @LeeBeeSW I do concede that I could upload a photo of you for my membership, and that would then give you access for the full season. But to me, that is far less of a concern. The big problem the club face is tourists buying tickets for single games, not season-long loans to a friend.

@joebonthuys @LeeBeeSW Yes but once you upload the photo, it's locked in for the season. What we are trying to eliminate here are touts selling a ticket to a guy from India one week, a girl from Malaysia the next week, and an elderly couple from London the week after.

@14will14 @Harlow_Estates @AFCFixtureNews Exactly. What I am suggesting is the next stage. With a photo on file, they can perform an instant check on any person (home or away). No need for ID. It's a simple case of "is the person stood in front of me, the same person as we have on file?"

@joebonthuys @LeeBeeSW You would upload the photo via the app. "In order to keep using this membership, please upload a photo of the individual to whom it is registered" Then the club can do any checks in future on any ticket, to see it is being used by the correct person.

@Harlow_Estates @AFCFixtureNews Stop thinking facial recognition cameras. Think train ticket inspection. Photo on the membership, targeted spot-checks at the gate. If the face doesn’t match the account, revoke the membership. The moment entry isn't guaranteed, the tout market collapses.

@Harlow_Estates @AFCFixtureNews They don't need to check 60,000 people at the gate. They need to do targeted checks in the blocks where ballot tickets are sold. They check the people who always get "lucky" on the exchange. They check the people with suspicious browsing patterns.

If the face of the person using my season ticket doesn’t match the face of the person the club have on file as owning that membership, then the club can act.

@LeeBeeSW Adding facial recognition at the point of sale is problematic because of time pressures. Adding facial ID to memberships is the way I would go. All members have a photo on file. If the ID/face doesn't match, no excuses, you're gone
