What if we stopped saying "Technical Debt" and talked about the actual thing? Is it an escaped defect, infrastructure upgrade, shoddy code..? Builders don't have "structural debt", surgeons "surgical debt", or gardeners "botanical debt". #agile

@garrytan Sometimes it doesn't exist because there is a valid answer to that question.
@tottinge Also, thinking about this more...having the first example in front of me before seeing the second might have primed me to feel I understood the second easier than I would have if I didn't have the context of the first 🤔
@tottinge Yeah, as I read though the thread there's great arguments for both. I think it also depends on what the reader's intention is. Do I need to debug this or add to it? or do I just need to know what this is intending to accomplish in broad strokes.
@tottinge I think it also depends on what we mean by readability. There's readability to get a quick understanding of what the code intends to accomplish, and then readability in terms of one's ability to quickly operate within the code. First relies on clarity, second is syntax/convention
@tapps Most relatable tweet I've seen in weeks 🍕
@tottinge I was on a corporate team that automated feature branches being deleted as soon as they were merged into a production-ready branch. Basically if it went through initial QA and was merged, the feature branch was removed. This however, has been rare in my corporate gigs.

Don't fully understand how load balancing works? This article and animations is pretty easy to understand and amazing: samwho.dev/load-balancing
You can't build a product on assumptions. Test your hypothesis, continuously refine, and iterate on your product based on customer behavior.
You need client feedback, but more importantly, you need to understand what users find valuable. They might be using it in ways you never anticipated.
Your MVP isn't v1 of your "product".
If you're a non-technical founder, make sure engineering treats your startup like a product, not a sandbox.

Instead of "TDD," think of it as DDT. Development, Driven by Tests. The point is to do development, not to test. (Though of course, you should test, too.)
You can't just build a Minimum Viable Product. Build a Minimum Viable Audience too.
Entrepreneurship isn't what most people think it is. 97% of entrepreneurs quit and never make it. The 3% who make it fail, learn, and iterate. It's about how many cycles you can suffer through to find what works.
Focus is everything. Know what to ignore. You don't need to answer every email. You don't need to be the solution to every problem. Ruthlessly focus on what moves business forward.
I just bought @philsturgeon's book about APIs, because he said if I didn't he would hurt me: apisyouwonthate.com
