Remember that time I decided to live in the office and survive only on office snacks to prove a point but then I got scurvy? Remember when I banned meetings and we were only allowed to communicate to through my spiritual guide who would telepathically align the company using her mind. (If you’re an investor actually trying to learn about my leadership style, there are better ways.)
Message me any time but short story is that I think the best way to get started is to find a relevant professor in Canada and ask if they have a student that would benefit from a sponsorship. Start less demanding (basically support the student’s existing work with a bit of help for your work) for your first engagement. but as you do more you start to set the research direction more. For the prof its funding for their lab which allows them to expand. For you, you get the profs support, the students work, and ideally a published paper.

The main motivation is to allow us to control cost (what research directions get funded) while also enabling diversity (we don’t know all the potential ideas) and there is an existing human social parallel that was designed to solve this problem (human research communities) We do not feel like gods at all. We know what you mean and this is a big conversation so perhaps better to write something longer in a blog. But we appreciate you saying this because designing societies of agents does require thoughtfulness at a level we haven’t been seeing in many large labs.

Jess nailed the deeper problem — the AGI trade is the St. Petersburg paradox. If you sell an infinite payout, there is no price you can't justify. Now the story is quietly becoming 'AGI is gradual'... conveniently after AGI clauses got written into billion-dollar agreements because deals were moving too fast to do anything else. Infinite demand ≠ infinite margins. Calculations aren't valuable just because you consume more of them. Oh — and Mazzeo claims GLP-1 revenue now rivals AI revenue. Ep 168 is up.
