Yeah. In general -- and I do mean in general because there are some serious issues with some of the MAID safeguards -- these stats represent people on their way out using MAID to die with dignity and less pain. For whatever reason, the image in people's minds when they see these statistics is of healthy people being carted off to human slaughterhouses against their will. No. Most users of MAID very much want it and have painful terminal illnesses.

@BackmacherJohn @official202e It's not a reward for a missed fg. It is a very small reward for achieving good enough field position on a 150 yard field to put the ball through the opponent's end zone. Again, you're framing it as a reward for a missed fg because you can only conceive of NFL rules.

You're just not able to view the sport outside of your NFL rules lens. The field is 150 yards long. They marched the ball all the way down field and managed to put it beyond the opposing team's end zone. That is worth a miniscule single point. It's just a different way of looking at the game. Before the NFL blew up in Canada I recall Canadians having a similar problem conceptualizing some American rules. The fair catch is a good example. A lot of Canadians think it's absurd that you can wave your hand in the air and then no one can hit you. You get used to a rule set and then think anything but those rules is stupid.

Something that I don't see media addressing, for whatever reason, is that the federal government cannot use foreign treaties to usurp exclusive provincial jurisdiction. Whatever deal comes out of this can't result in anything that affects provincial powers because, if it did, the deal would require the approval of all 10 provinces -- and that isn't going to happen. Therefore we kind of know in advance that this is about trade, mobility, and nothing more.

It isn't even clear how EU associate membership could happen on the Canada end, let alone the EU end. Canada's federal government cannot usurp exclusive provincial jurisdiction under the constitution through foreign treaties. All 10 provinces have to agree to anything coming from Brussells that touches provincial jurisdiction -- and that ain't going to happen.
