@buildwithdjdev @jamonholmgren @birch_js @ammarahm_ed Fast API calls straight in, then SQLite work is dispatched through a native thread pool. Workers dont touch V8 and completions are queued and signal an eventfd registered with the JS thread's ALooper, which drains them and resolves back into JS.
@jamonholmgren @birch_js I'd be more interested in seeing the numbers from the newer NAPI runtimes and comparing NativeScript+Hermes against RN. @buildwithdjdev @ammarahm_ed
@jamonholmgren @birch_js Yep, on Android we are JIT enabled. These numbers are on V8 10.3. {N} 9.1 pushes V8 to 14.9 and gives us Maglev and some perf. On the numbers - I wouldn't actually call this a good comparison between RN and {N}. The SQLite implementations here are dramatically different.

Their test compared numbers across different devices and networks. Here's one controlled run: same Pixel 7, release builds, identical 17-case SQLite workload. Somehow, I don't think @mrousavy has anything to worry about here.
I don't think you understand what we did yet with SuperNative @nativephp ... and we're just getting started... 🫣
@Koossaayy @PovilasKorop Different devices, different network loops, different test. SuperNative is fast, but every interaction still loops through the boundary - and in a 1-1 comparison it's still slower than the alternatives.
@mrousavy @wwwalkerrun To be fair the package I've used is pretty experimental and not really production ready. Will probably lose a little bit of speed, but gain it elsewhere with the newer runtime engines (this is an old build of V8)
