After this performance the band did an interview saying this was the best performance they have ever done. Just this song. Everyone was on cue. Perfect. Not a note missed by anyone. Pitch. Tone. Timing. All perfect. They said they never performed this good ever before. And you can clearly tell.❤️

@HorifyingPeople I would really like to see the data where this has happened enough times... with the FD, that this training was needed.

In 1988 Dolly Parton pulled every 7th and 8th grader in Sevier County into a room and told them to pick a buddy. She made them sign a contract.. if BOTH graduate, she hands you both $500. One fails, nobody gets paid. The county dropout rate went from 35% to 6%. She handed out the checks herself. In 1989 she offered $500 to every kid in the county who wanted to go to the local college. When Gatlinburg burned in 2016, she sent 900 families $1,000 a month for six months. You've probably heard that part. Here's the part you haven't: The fund raised more than expected, so she showed up in May and handed every one of those families another $5,000 on top. Then she quietly put $3 million into the recovery group that handles the years after the news trucks leave. She built her county an entire hospital. She played a benefit concert in 2007, Dollywood and the Stampede matched it, and LeConte Medical Center opened in 2010 with a birthing unit and a women's center in it. In 2022 she started covering 100% of tuition, books, and fees for Dollywood employees. Full-time, part-time, AND seasonal. In 1991 she paid for a bald eagle sanctuary because the birds couldn't be released back into the wild, no press release. And when Hurricane Helene came through here in Western North Carolina, she wrote a personal check for $1 million and her companies matched it. She didn't owe North Carolina anything, but she helped us anyway. She started the Imagination Library because her daddy couldn't read or write. Before he passed, he told her it was the most important thing she ever did. Rest in Peace, Dolly 🇺🇸

Dolly Parton sits down with her parents and five sisters for a Christmas special and the real show starts the second the banter begins. She cracks jokes, teases the whole clan and within minutes the living room energy takes over pure Appalachian wit, overlapping stories and that unmistakable Parton laugh. Then the sisters lock into perfect family harmony and the room just lifts No polished celebrity gloss, just blood, history, and voices that only come from growing up under the same roof. This is still one of the warmest, most rewatched family moments she ever put on television for a reason.

Betty White’s World War II uniform stands as far more than simple documentation of her military contributions. It functions as a tangible archive of her personal experiences. Years before she rose to become one of television’s most cherished figures, Betty White set aside her aspirations in Hollywood so she could contribute to the national effort. In 1941, when she was only 19, she enlisted in the American Women’s Voluntary Services after the United States entered World War II. Her assignment involved motor transport. Day after day she operated a sturdy PX truck, carrying essential goods such as soap, toothpaste, and candy to artillery positions scattered across the California hills. Once evening arrived, she exchanged her work clothes for evening wear and joined dances intended to lift the spirits of young troops about to leave for overseas duty. After her death in December 2021, her estate presented the carefully maintained olive-drab AWVS uniform and its accompanying shoulder bag to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History. The gift disclosed an extraordinary collection of everyday home-front objects. Within the bag, museum staff uncovered everyday wartime items that included blank V-mail stationery, gasoline ration coupons, red food tokens, and a makeup compact stamped with the AWVS emblem. Most moving of all were 29 distinct military insignia pins given to her by individual service members, together with a meticulously kept handwritten roster of their names. These objects preserve a deeply intimate and lasting record of human connection and patriotic feeling during the war.

In 1962, Brendon Grimshaw purchased Moyenne Island in the Seychelles for roughly $11,000. At the time, the small island was completely barren and uninhabited. Over the following decades, Grimshaw dedicated his life to restoring its ecosystem. He personally planted more than 16,000 trees, created walking trails, and reintroduced endangered species — most notably giant Aldabra tortoises — transforming the once-desolate island into a lush, thriving nature sanctuary. Despite numerous offers from wealthy developers eager to turn the island into a luxury resort, Grimshaw consistently refused. He famously rejected a $50 million bid, determined to keep Moyenne Island as a protected natural haven open for people to enjoy rather than a private commercial venture. In 2009, his vision was permanently secured when Moyenne Island was incorporated into the Sainte Anne Marine National Park, becoming the smallest national park in the world. Grimshaw lived on the island until his death in 2012, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of conservation and environmental stewardship that continues to protect this unique paradise for future generations.

@catsiscrazy @forallcurious It also literally says made with AI on it, which is a pretty big giveaway

@SenTomCotton Lmao, the data says otherwise, you fucking shill

Lionel Ritchie calls out celebrities who are rude to fans; amid Chappell Roan being accused of being rude. “The universe gave you what you were asking for, now, what is it about people you don’t like? You want to be famous and rich without people? It doesn’t work like that.”

The Afroman Trial. -Cops raid Afromans house for bullshit reasons. -Steal money, break his door, fuck his house up. -No criminality found whatsoever, no charges at all pressed on Afroman. -Afroman spends the next 3 years making songs that make fun of all the officers involved by name, even using footage of the raid from his own CCTV cameras. -Songs had titles like "Randy Walters is a son of a bitch" and "Lick Em Low Lisa" accusing one of the officers of being a lesbian and sleeping with the other officers wives. -During the raid one officer looked like he was about to eat some lemon pound cake sitting on Afromans counter, Afroman made a whole album calling the officer fat. -The cops get mad and file a lawsuit for defamation. -Afroman turns up to court in a whole American flag suit. -Officers performatively mald and cry while listening to the songs really trying to oversell how badly the songs upset them. -One officer was suing because Afroman made a whole song about him saying he was fucking the officers wife. When the officer was asked if Afroman was really fucking his wife, he said "I don't know". Nuking his own case and establishing that there is a non-zero chance that Afroman might actually be fucking his wife. -As his only witness for the trial, Afroman brought a deputies EX FUCKING WIFE. -The jury ruled completely in favour of Afroman. This entire thing has been a great win for free speech and absolutely fucking hilarious.

Egypt was stuck in a loop for thousands of years. The high priests imposed upon the masses a cyclical religion to keep everything in order. Then the Pharaoh Akhenaten came along and fought for the truth, the cult of the sun. The high priests were no longer needed; anyone could simply look up and see the source of all life, of all energy. He died young, probably killed by the high priests of Amon. All memory of his existence was erased. He was one of the first known cases of damnatio memoriae, and Egypt went back to cyclical polytheism. The great journey of Man toward the Sun, toward energy, is a constant fight against high priests who hijack the religious function of Man. We were not meant to follow strict tradition and live little lives. We were meant to be fascinated by light, by fire, by the sun, by pure energy. We were meant to harness it and go after greatness. The greatest obstacle between Man and greatness is the eternal caste of high priest. They exist today; they are bureaucrats who try to convince the youth that Man is a disease on the surface of the globe.

Cannabis Smoking Not Linked To Increased Risk of Emphysema Cannabis smoking poses fewer pulmonary risks than tobacco smoking and it is not positively associated with the development of emphysema... norml.org/blog/2025/05/0…

🚨 Massive 44-year study reveals that long-term cannabis use does not accelerate cognitive decline. It debunks long-held myths about the drug’s impact on brain aging. For decades, concerns over the long-term cognitive effects of cannabis have fueled public health warnings, yet a comprehensive 44-year study from Denmark is now challenging those assumptions. Researchers tracked more than 5,000 men from early adulthood into their mid-sixties, comparing intelligence scores recorded at age 20 to follow-up assessments at age 64. The results, published in the journal Brain and Behavior, found no evidence that cannabis use accelerates cognitive decline. In a surprising twist, those with a history of use actually showed a marginally smaller decrease in IQ points—approximately 1.3 points less—than their non-using counterparts, effectively questioning the notion that the drug inevitably impairs long-term mental acuity. While the findings are striking, experts note that lifestyle factors and 'cognitive reserve' may play a significant role in these outcomes. The study revealed that cannabis users in this cohort often possessed higher baseline IQs and education levels, which are known to influence cognitive resilience. Crucially, the researchers discovered that neither the frequency of use nor the age at which an individual started using the substance significantly impacted their intelligence later in life. Although the study was limited to men and relied on self-reported data, it provides some of the most robust longitudinal evidence to date that past cannabis use does not inherently doom the aging brain to a faster decline. The last of his people, Tame Horomona Rehe, photographed in 1925... This man was often described as “the last of his people”, but that phrase tells only part of the story. Tame Horomona Rehe (also known as Tommy Solomon) is frequently referred to as the last full-blooded Moriori. The Moriori are the Indigenous Polynesian people of the Chatham Islands (Rēkohu), located east of mainland New Zealand. In the 19th century, the Moriori population was devastated by invasion, enslavement, disease, and land dispossession after Māori groups from mainland New Zealand arrived in 1835. By the late 1800s, their numbers had dramatically declined. However, the idea that Tame Horomona Rehe was “the last Moriori” is historically misleading. While he may have been considered the last person of unmixed Moriori ancestry at the time, Moriori descendants continue today. Cultural revitalization efforts in recent decades have restored language, identity, and recognition of Moriori history. In 2021, the New Zealand government signed a formal settlement with Moriori representatives, acknowledging historical injustices and providing redress nearly two centuries after the invasion. © History Pictures #archaeohistories
