Don't forget they'll happily take money from malware groups to serve ads AT THE TOP OF SEARCH RESULTS that mimic popular websites, but trick you into downloading malware instead. At least you could avoid those by looking at the URL. Guess we can't even have that anymore.
‼️ Google Search is now hiding where its results lead. Links point to google[.]com/goto?, followed by an opaque string only Google can resolve. You can no longer inspect a destination before clicking it, or copy the address out of the page. Every click now travels through

Good info below about blocking your TV from collecting and sending your info off to their home servers. Allow us to add a bit more. The best solution is not connecting your TV to the internet at all. Airgap it. Until TVs get pre-installed SIM cards (like cars), YOU still get to control if it connects to the internet or not. Then for streaming, get a dedicated streaming device: • Apple TV 4K - Best option for privacy. Not ad-funded, no auto content recognition for what's on screen, Apple's existing App Tracking Transparency applies on tvOS. Disable Apple telemetry and analytics. Not perfect but beats out everything else. • Nvidia Shield - Bit dated but still holds up. Runs Android TV. No ACR, has sideloading for things like SmartTube. Make a dedicated Google account for it. Toggle off as much analytics and telemetry as you can. Worse than Apple's privacy, but far better than custom-built TV firmware from LG or Samsung. Ditch anything else. It's as bad as the TVs. Roku, Fire TV, Google TV/Onn - All these are sold to you for pennies, because you are the product. Their profit comes from selling your data. I'll also mention that the ultimate best solution is self-hosting everything. But this requires your own hardware, technical skill, upkeep, maintenance, etc. Best for privacy, but an order of magnitude more work. People have mentioned Pi-hole, so I'll throw in our privacy-focused DNS service @ControlDNS with free resolvers. It can act as a Pi-hole for your network and devices without the hassle and upkeep.

For sure! I'm not against AAA, I'm against the modern version of most AAA studios. 1 guy isn't going to make you GTA 6, no one is arguing that. The issue is that the incentives are so skewed towards profit these days. Look back 20 years and you'll see a clear balance between making a quality fun game which leads to profit, versus now where it's maximum profit with a bare minimum product, if that. Part of the reason for such crazy hardware requirements now is because, unlike before, there is barely any hardware optimization done to the games. Because that costs money to do. Which eats into profits.
Some of the most popular games in recent times have been made by 1 person and no budget. Balatro, Schedule 1, Lethal Company, etc. Indie is thriving because the games are fun. AAA is failing because the studios are run by greedy execs, not passionate gamers making good games.
