You're going to meet a lot of people these 2 weeks and have a great time with most of them. Enjoy it, that's what conference weeks are for.
Just stay aware. The smart attackers don't need you to be careless. They wait for months, show up at events,
A few common—and increasingly pressing—questions I hear from websites:
- Should I allow or block a agent web requests?
- Is it a verified agent? On behalf of a verified human?
- How can I get permission to ask for the person’s [email]?
@stripe is building a solution. Reach out.
My neighbor told me that hackers keep stealing accounts on his site so I asked how he was verifying them and he said he just sends them a code to their email so I said it sounds like you're just handing codes to compromised emails and then his daughter started crying.
The increase in interest in human verification since we started @VeryAI 18 months ago has been wild to see.
There’s never been a better time to start a human verification company. The more the merrier.
This is a big enough problem that there's not just one startup idea here, but several. For example, there will probably be one variant meant to filter out agents, but another meant to welcome them in an orderly way. This also seems an idea you could build more on.
@tanmaigo Ticket sales are in desperate need of authentication. Most of the time you just need to prove that it's a real person buying the ticket, not a bot or a scalper gaming the system.
SMS codes prove you have access to a phone number.
Email codes prove you have access to a mailbox.
Passkeys prove you can unlock a device.
A palm proves it's you.
Bot detection & human verification will be one of the most urgent demands for businesses over the coming years. Agent swarms will suffocate every website and form; small companies and government websites are most vulnerable.
There is a huge gap in the market for this right now.
Morgan Stanley asks “who owns the agent”.
We’re giving software the ability to spend money, make decisions, and act on our behalf. That requires a clear connection to whoever gave it that authority, with limits that can be enforced and permission that can be withdrawn.
The more autonomy we give agents, the more valuable that foundation becomes. Ownership and delegated authority both need to be verifiable. this is the exact problem we're working on at @VeryAImorganstanley.com/insights/artic…
