@suphi_ati Passports are the sneaky one, since renewal can take weeks. What works for us: the expiry date sits right next to a photo of the document, with a reminder a few months out. When it fires, everything you need is already there.
Kitchen remodel week three, and every quote lives in a different email thread. Keep the renovation in one TreeNotes branch — floor plan, quotes, progress photos, and what's still open. Share only that branch when the electrician needs it.

Family trip next week and half the packing list lives in chat threads. Keep one list in TreeNotes — share a link so everyone can tick items off, even without an account. Start free → treenotes.com/signup
@nilsgroove We'd take the offline one too. And the telling part might be simpler than the industry makes it: a quick "mind if I take notes?" at the start. Five seconds, and people remember that you asked.
Glovebox full of paper, and you still can't find the registration. Keep the scan in TreeNotes — available offline on Android or iPhone once it's saved on your phone. Start free → treenotes.com/signup
@TX_neurologist Sensible default. We'd add two questions for the vendor: who can read the transcript during those 24 hours, and does deletion reach their backups too? Short retention helps most when every copy goes.
Remember in December what they mentioned in May. Keep a gift-ideas note for each person in TreeNotes. The free plan includes every note type, 1 GB of storage and sharing. No credit card, no time limit.

@hendrychou@NotionHQ That's a real gap. For us, the useful bar has been offline editing of what's already on the phone or tablet — then open the app when you're back online to sync. Writing something down shouldn't wait on a signal.
Hotel desk asks for your passport number. Keep the scan in TreeNotes — encrypted on your device before it syncs, so we can't read it.

@tshokama For us, finding things weeks later has come down to where a note lives more than how well it was captured. A nested tree per area of life, each note next to what it belongs to, and search has a much smaller haystack.
Your phone plan, gym and car insurance all renew on different dates. Keep the contract numbers and cancellation terms in one TreeNotes branch, with a task for each date to cancel by. Notes and task lists, side by side in one tree.

@darylbleach Lovely reason to build something. Walking into an appointment with three weeks of notes instead of memory changes the whole conversation. Health notes are about as personal as it gets, glad they're staying in the family.
Your accountant needs this year's receipts. Not your notes, not your photos, not last year.
Share one TreeNotes branch with an encrypted link: add a password, set it to expire in 14 days. No account needed on their side.

Lots of notes apps now ship AI that reads everything you write. TreeNotes can't read your notes at all: they're encrypted on your device, so there's nothing for us to mine, train on, or hand over. treenotes.com
@Roguex Even "encrypted sync" only helps if the key never leaves your devices. If the provider holds it, that cloud copy is readable on their end. Seed words still belong on paper.
Most notes don't belong in a flat list. A meeting has follow-ups, a project has sub-projects, an idea has branches. TreeNotes lets you nest notes the way you actually think, and encrypts every branch on your device. treenotes.com
Every company plans for a breach. Ours would be boring: TreeNotes encrypts your notes on your device, so a stolen database is just ciphertext with no key to open it. treenotes.com
A privacy policy is a promise. Encryption is math. TreeNotes encrypts your notes on your device before they sync, so our servers only ever store ciphertext. treenotes.com
@abeauvois Search by timecode instead of by file is the part I'd actually use. And keeping the index on the Mac matters, since an index of your photos says almost as much as the photos do.
