We reached a new record yesterday evening, reaching and exceeding 1.1tbps for the first time! Looking back through our data to 2004 when we first reached 1gbps, it is amazing to see how much internet traffic has grown in the last 16 years.

@GGreg It is reasonable to assume that short term spikes are usually either a big content dump or huge transfer between peers.

We're volunteer and not-for-profit and one of the largest Internet Exchanges in the entire world. The biggest Internet companies and ISP's are here, large enterprises are here, but not the City or the Province. It's sad.

Hey Mayor @JohnTory & Premier Ford @fordnation, concerned about scaling government when your staff need to work from home? The Toronto Internet Exchange, which many of the ISPs your staff at home use connect together to keep traffic local, why not the @CityOfToronto or Province?

That's right! We hit 1.085tbps, which is 70gbps higher than the peak in February. Watching game release calendars is now part of our capacity planning recommendations.

Looks like @TorontoIX breaks 1Tbps again likely on the back of the 80-100GB #CallofDuty Warzone update.

In light of the demand on networks due to more people working from home, TorIX has decided to allow free port upgrades for 60 days for existing networks at TorIX that need to add capacity to their networks quickly. Contact peering at torix dot ca for more details.
