Building PurePath Day 90 something: still waiting on Apple’s review board after more than 2 weeks with no real response. While that’s dragging on, I’ve been testing Claude vs Astra to see which gives PurePath the best camera recognition for scans. The goal is simple: better material detection, better wear detection, and fewer bad scan results. If Apple is going to make me wait, I’m using the time to make the app better.
I didn’t build PurePath because I wanted another “healthy living” app. I built it because I realized I could name 20 things I should avoid eating but had almost no idea what the things I used every single day were made from. Pans. Utensils. Cutting boards. Bedding. That felt backwards.
Researchers recently tested household dust from 105 homes. Micro and nanoplastics were detected in every single sample. 75% contained at least 5 different polymer groups. We keep talking about microplastics like they’re an ocean problem. They’re a home problem too. That’s what PurePath is built to help you look for. purepath.digital

Hey @Apple, genuinely asking. It’s been over 2 weeks waiting for a response on PurePath’s app review/appeal. I’m a solo founder trying to launch something I’ve spent months building and right now the hardest part isn’t building the app. It’s waiting with no idea what happens next.
Another new study this week found microplastics throughout freshwater environments in a remote high-altitude region of Pakistan. That’s the part people need to understand. Microplastics aren’t confined to polluted cities or oceans anymore. They move through water, food and ultimately into the environments we live in every day.
A new peer-reviewed study published yesterday looked at microplastics from commercial plastic products and developed a faster way to identify their particle signatures. The more scientists improve detection, the more clearly we’re seeing how widespread plastic particles really are. More than 1 million plastic water bottles are bought every minute worldwide. New Concordia research this week looked at 15,000+ people across 81 countries to understand why bottled water use keeps growing. We keep treating plastic exposure like an environmental issue. It’s increasingly a household issue too.
New research published this week found microplastics in every milk sample tested. Researchers tested 30 commercial milk samples and detected 5 to 36 particles per litre. Plastic-bottled milk had the highest contamination. Packaging matters more than most people realize. purepath.digital
Back from Hiatus: Consumer Reports just tested 15 packaged baby food purées for microplastics. They found evidence of microplastics in ALL 15. One serving contained more than 814,000 particles. This is why microplastic exposure isn’t just an ocean problem. It’s an everyday product problem.
