In this TEDx talk, I proposed the idea to reframe rare diseases not as isolated medical curiosities, but as a global health challenge – one that demands a different kind of thinking. Instead of asking, “How do we solve for one disease at a time?” – what if we asked
Yet the reality for most of these patients remains the same: 🔹 Years of misdiagnosis or no diagnosis at all 🔹 Few or no approved treatments 🔹 Limited awareness, even within medical systems 🔹 A profound sense of being invisible
Individually, each one affects a small number of people. But collectively? They impact more than 350 million individuals worldwide. That’s a population larger than the United States.
