Open-source robot arm meets hand tracking [📍GitHub below] It is designed with an industrial mindset but built as a 3D-printed desktop system. PAROL6 paired with a LEAP Motion controller is a nice example of how accessible robot teleoperation has become. • Hand motion is streamed to the robot at 100 Hz via UDP • A pneumatic gripper is controlled by simple fist open and close gestures • The entire robot stack is open source, from mechanics to control software Combine that with low-latency hand tracking and you get a very practical platform for learning manipulation, teleoperation, and human-robot interfaces. This kind of setup is great for experimentation, teleop, data collection, and teaching robots by demonstration All without proprietary hardware or locked software. Stacking closed loop stepper drivers to simulate our robotic arm! 🦾 This lets us safely test the comms stack and flash individual motors without risking mechanical damage or tedious disassembly if something goes wrong.
We just shipped motorgui.com v0.0.1 — the first release of our desktop tool for working with our stepper and BLDC motor drivers. What it can do today: - Flash application firmware over CAN or UART - Configure drivers over CAN or UART - Plot position, speed, and torque/current in real time - Run calibration and apply presets
Also there are no turque sensors so they must be measuring current to provide a force feedback. Really cool piece of tech that would probably hold up in todays time.
Had to disassemble our phantom omni (haptic device from 2009) since one of the pen potentiometers is not working. Its interested that they use DC motors with gear reducers to drive the first 3 joints. You can see the motor in the second image.
And they can also be printed as a solid gripper jaws or in the below configuration.

@chris_j_paxton The gripper you posted is made by us and it has force feedback because its basically a direct drive motor + rack and pinion.

This is the latest GUI developed by one of our discord users Jepson2k. The GUI is open source and it currently supports our PAROL6 robot arm, but he developed it to easily add more robot arms!
MSG grippers are built with cameras in mind. We hope that soon we can start some embedded AI tests.
