We will post a picture of the rings to try and figure out how old the tree really is. To own a big in the city can be costly fyi averaging $1,200 to $2,500 depending on the level of maintenance. Those darn lantern flies really upped th costs with bark application 3x /yr

So with sad news we have to announce that the old tree is coming down on Sept 26, 2023. Combo of trying to accommodate neighbors, losing the final battle in the zba and 90+mph sheer winds a few weeks ago taking a large branch makes it time to take the tree down.

Maintaining a tree takes a lot of love and effort especially in a dense city. Doing some maintenance work to maintain the health of the tree today. Probably almost 100 years old.

We won yesterday. And the tree lives for another day and another battle 4 years later. We should really document this process.

Sad. Gardening and green open space is so important.

This picture hit my FB feed this morning. As I understand the story, a street couple in CT took an empty lot and started to grow veggies. The council decided to tar over the veggie plot. I find it disheartening that town councils lack the leadership to support public food gardens

Interesting. A reason we started #SaveOld2ndStTree campaign as"pre-approved" per the developer years ago. ... has been indicted in connection with the fed investigation involving ... Dr. James Moylan, the former ZBA, was indicted by a federal grand. cbsloc.al/2MFtbX8
