We read the code behind 362 animations on 216 of the best websites. Most come down to the same 15 tricks. youtu.be/7LU0R_q8oyo
All three run once per frame, so on a 120 Hz screen they ease twice as fast. emotion-agency.com ties k to the frame's length in seconds (t): this.scroll += (this.scrollTarget - this.scroll) * (1 - Math.exp(-.08 * 60 * t))
Sites: gilhuybrecht.com by Gil Huybrecht, tokonoma.xyz by Tokonoma Studio, dennissnellenberg.com by Dennis Snellenberg.
All three run the same line of code, each with its own k. So do 39 more sites in our Elements library. save.design/elements
We made a video in a new format on our YouTube channel, this time about development tricks explained. Would love to hear if you like this type of format! See you on the channel!
We read the code behind 362 animations on 216 of the best websites. Most come down to the same 15 tricks. youtu.be/7LU0R_q8oyo
In the clip: tostato.cafe, andfriends.soccer, emotion-agency.com, paxter.info, thedamai.codebydennis.com (built by Dennis Snellenberg) and agrumeafarm.it
The trail in the video is Aitana Picó's site, aitanapico[dot]com. On Windows the shortcut is Alt+Shift+R.
Some designs only make sense when they move! 👀 A hover state. A scroll reveal. A menu opening. Now you can record any section of a webpage with the Save Design extension, and search for it later by what it does. “hover card flip” “sticky nav that shrinks on scroll” Record it. Find it by what it does. 📚 Alt+Shift+R to record. 🔗 save.design
We measured it in Chrome on a 120 Hz MacBook Pro: the preview closes half the gap in 67 ms. At 60 Hz the same line takes 133 ms. Safari holds pages to 60 fps unless you change a setting. Site: dennissnellenberg.com by Dennis Snellenberg
If your cursor effect eases once a frame, Chrome runs it twice as fast on a 120 Hz screen. save.design/elements
We love preloaders on websites! But guys… 9 seconds of waiting before entering a site is just heartbreaking 😭 There has to be a line 🥀
By Obys, for their Design Education Series (@des_by_obys). More like it in our library: save.design/element/adb3cb…
This site has a “My 6 y.o. Daughter’s Version” button

We dediced run experiment. Two of these footers are live sites. Claude built the other three from moodboards. Will you guess which are Claude's?
1. Image trail: Sadu Media 2. Text scramble: Share Bien, by Beaucoup 3. Stacking cards: Agrumea Farm, by Studio K95 4. Magnetic button: Dennis Snellenberg 5. Marquee: pax, by Melting Mirror 6. Image sequence: Seasats, by Raw Materials 7. Ripple distortion: Silver Gore
Seven effects you've seen on a hundred sites, and what each one is called. save.design/elements
And then: hirotos[dot]com, paulkalkbrenner[dot]net, jesperlandberg[dot]com, otherkind[dot]design, inga[dot]land, dejiajetomobi[dot]com, thoughtsofayush[dot]com, paxter[dot]info, sasasa[dot]com, gionatannese[dot]com, manishkr[dot]xyz, generaladmission[dot]house
In the video, in order: altshift[dot]agency, omse[dot]co, joyyiu[dot]com, goodside[dot]studio, musician[dot]growon[dot]kr, produx[dot]design, pear[dot]no, igochi[dot]studio, schemeengine[dot]com, reality-is[dot]com, miloscstudio[dot]com, leofu[dot]ca
Our folder of 24 studio and portfolio sites is public now 👀 We gathered some stunning references into one folder for you. If you're designing yours, clone it, you'll love it! 📂 save.design/folder/studio-…
