Me, I like reading docs o. Almost everything I've learned is with the docs. I open the docs on one side and I do stuff on the other side. AI is so good now that you can do stuff without learning, I am doing that for the first time. I miss the learning on one side and doing on the other side though. I went through X’s latest open-sourced algorithm + Original Content Rewards docs and there’s something creators need to understand: What makes X PUSH your post and what makes X PAY you are two different things. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗫 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝘂𝘀𝗵: X’s Phoenix system predicts what each person is likely to do with your post, including: • Like • Reply • Repost • Quote • Share • Share via DM • Copy link • Click • Open your profile • Follow you • Watch your video • Dwell on the post Those predictions are weighted to determine how highly the post should rank for that person. And one interesting thing: Bookmarks currently aren’t one of the actions listed in Phoenix’s ranking model. So a post getting 2,000 bookmarks doesn’t directly mean X gives it some massive algorithm boost. Meanwhile, negative actions like: • Not interested • Mute • Block • Report • Quickly scrolling past are also signals the ranking system considers. 𝗡𝗼𝘄 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘆𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: X doesn’t directly pay you because a post got: 100K likes 20K replies 50K bookmarks 10K reposts X’s Original Content Rewards pays based on QUALIFIED IMPRESSIONS. A qualified impression is: • A unique view • From an X Premium user • On their Home Timeline • With at least 50% of your post visible Repeated views from the same person don’t count again. Paid/promoted, artificial and fraudulent impressions don’t count either. So engagement matters because it can help X decide your post is worth showing to more people. But ultimately, for payout, you need those interactions to translate into more qualified Home Timeline impressions from Premium users. That means you can have two posts with 1M views and they could be VERY different financially. One could have a much larger percentage of Premium Home Timeline impressions than the other. 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 ≠ 𝗣𝗮𝘆𝗼𝘂𝘁. The algorithm decides who should see you. Qualified impressions decide what actually counts towards your payout. Understanding the difference changes how you look at your X analytics completely.
