Just saw some pictures from the @CMTAssociation Fall Summit nearly two weeks ago - incredibly thankful to present for the first time and meet a living legend @louiseyamada
@MarioOttai549 That relationship actually failed to make a new high from the previous one back in late May following a bearish momentum divergence. I just can't show ETF charts. So, this one aligns with those products
#Technology relative to #SPX appears to be displaying follow-through to the downside following a false/early breakout.
Technicians often monitor relative trends because changes in relative strength can sometimes precede changes in absolute price trends.
This relationship may be worth monitoring, especially given #Technology's weighting within several major equity indexes.

Chart of the day: #Technology vs #SPX
One relationship some technicians may be watching when assessing potential risks within the equity market is Tech relative to the S&P 500.
Following a breakout to new relative highs versus the S&P 500, #Technology has begun to show signs of
#HighBeta relative to #LowVolatility appears to be displaying follow-through to the downside following a false/early breakout.
Because this ratio is often used as a gauge of investor risk appetite, recent relative weakness may be worth monitoring....
If this relative trend persists, some market participants may interpret it as evidence of a more defensive tone within the equity market.

#HighBeta just broke out to new all-time highs relative to #LowVolatility
However, momentum is diverging, as the MACD is forming a lower high.
Historically, similar momentum divergences have at times accompanied early or failed breakouts.
*Past performance is no guarantee of
#BrentCrude Momentum (MACD) remains above the zero line, a condition some technicians associate with positive momentum, and the indicator is attempting to cross above its signal line.
After rebounding from the lower trendline of a potential rising wedge, prices have moved back toward the middle of the pattern. Technicians may be watching the upper trendline near prior highs around $115 as a potential area of resistance, particularly if momentum continues to strengthen.

#DJIEW Dow Jones Industrial Average Equal Weight Index remains in a bearish momentum regime (MACD below 0 line).
A confluence of potential support exists at prior highs + 200 DMA - this potential floor sits roughly 4% below current index prices.

#NDXEW The Nasdaq-100 Equal Weight Index formed a bearish momentum divergence after reaching all-time highs. While MACD recently moved above the zero line, signaling an improvement in momentum, the rate of improvement appears to be slowing.
From a price perspective, technicians may interpret the recent price action as a developing potential head and shoulders pattern, with neckline support near 9800.

#SPXEW S&P 500 equal-weight still remains in a bearish momentum regime (MACD below 0 line).

Chart of the day: #SPX
Looking across a 3-year time frame, the S&P 500 has reached a correlation extreme with both the #USDollarIndex and #Bitcoin as their respective 20-day rolling correlations have risen to approximately +0.68.
From a historical perspective, elevated correlations have sometimes coincided with inflection points in one or both assets, though the relationship can persist longer than expected.

#CrudeOil appears to be testing potential support around $87–$90 (following a shorter-term falling wedge), where two Anchored VWAPs, the 50-DMA, channel support, and horizontal support converge.
The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) indicator also appears to be exhibiting waning downside momentum, making this an important near-term inflection area.
If this potential support holds, technicians may watch the mid-September gap near $99-100 as a potential resistance area. Renewed strength in oil could add to the risks facing equity investors.

I think people try to find or make the perfect scan, and it doesn’t exist.
Part of my edge has always come from scanning thousands of charts over the weekend and putting the pieces together.
Which names are starting to stand out? Is a group theme potentially setting up? Which groups are extended despite a good setup? That’s situational awareness. And just as important: what’s starting to weaken?
Going through thousands of charts gives me a real feel for the market and keeps me aware heading into the week ahead.
Over the weekend, you always have a clear head and a fresh set of eyes to see the market without it being open.
Yes, #NDX held its potential support of former highs on Friday.
However, as one proxy for Nasdaq-100 participation, trading volume in a widely followed ETF tracking the index totaled approximately 21.2 million shares on Friday, roughly 58% below its 1-year average and 55% below its median.
This was the 2nd lowest single-session volume of the trailing year, surpassed only by the shortened December 24, 2025 holiday session (~18.5M shares).
Similar to the S&P 500, participation was notably light...
Some technicians may look for a future test of potential support accompanied by higher volume before viewing the recent hold as more convincing.

Yes, #SPX held its neckline support on Friday.
However, as one proxy for market participation, trading volume in a widely followed S&P 500-linked ETF totaled approximately 22.6 million shares on Friday, the lowest single-day volume of the trailing year, roughly 66% below its 1-year average (66.4M) and 63% below its median (60.5M).
From a technical analysis perspective, some technicians view a neckline hold or breakout that occurs on relatively light volume as less compelling than one accompanied by expanding participation. Higher volume is sometimes interpreted as evidence of broader market participation during a breakout or potential support test.
The low volume may suggest:
- Limited participation in Friday's move
- Some technicians may look for additional testing of the neckline on higher volume before viewing the potential support hold as more convincing
- The possibility that the potential support hold could face further scrutiny if selling pressure increases in subsequent sessions
Monday's volume may be worth monitoring, as changes in participation could provide additional insight into how market participants are responding to this potential key support level.
