SOUTH SHIELDS — A JOURNEY BACK THROUGH TIME Take a journey back to old South Shields, when the streets were busy with trams, horse-drawn carts, shoppers and workers, and the town had a character all of its own. From the bustling streets around King Street, with its old shops, signs and familiar names, to the waterfront, harbour and coastline, this video brings together glimpses of a South Shields that has changed almost beyond recognition. See the old shopfronts and businesses, the crowds going about their everyday lives, trams making their way through the town and horses still sharing the streets with the early motor cars. BEATTIES – PILGRIM STREET, NEWCASTLE 🎄🚂 For me, a Saturday trip to Newcastle as a kid wasn’t complete without a visit to Beatties on Pilgrim Street. As soon as we got off the bus, this was the shop I’d make a beeline for. I was absolutely mesmerised by the model railway that ran all the way around the shop. I could have stood there for hours just watching those little trains go round and round. I always dreamed that one day I’d have a model railway setup of my own… 🚂❤️ Here’s a little trip back to those magical childhood memories of Beatties — a shop that will always hold a special place in my memories of old Newcastle.
