On 2 September 1973 J.R.R. Tolkien died aged 81. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings is the best-selling book of the 20th Century, and is joined by seminal works The Hobbit and The Silmarillion. He may have died 52 years ago but his influence and legacy lives on in us all. Namárië.

@timboltonuk @NazgulJamesKidd @NourTrabel Oh it’s okay, Tim, and thanks. Just a bunch of total randos on twitter saying that I’m a sexist, misogynist, old, “lore bro” who uses coded language to — WHAT NOW? “have a good husband come in and “fix” Galadriel by making her into some kinda tradwife or something?” Absurd lies!

@moonlarking I didn’t know or assume the person’s gender when I wrote that open-field shady comment that I would’ve thrown at *anyone* regardless. I’ve uplifted women my whole life! This is all absurd because I’m defending myself from false misogynistic aspersions cast directly at me! Enough!

@vitaaeris @moonlarking Yesterday this was posted about me, a deeply hurtful falsehood: •"Fix the show" are code words for "get that wh*re away from the villain and reteach her to be a good faithful woman who obeys her husband" I’ve NEVER even thought such a thing! And then there were the insults…

@moonlarking Interpret how I throw shade AS YOU WISH. I was accused yesterday of wanting a husband character to “fix” a wife character just to “keep her in line” — the most BONKERS misogynistic bullshit I’ve ever had laid at my feet. I could never and would never hold that notion. Fuck that.

@r_0md @NourTrabel Although I enjoy the show a lot; these are key points for me: There are big emotional beats the writers don’t properly earn (like the death of Elvish archer Rían) There are huge setups with no follow up (the Doors of Durin) Making out with your future Mother-in-law is whack. /2

@r_0md @NourTrabel Glad to answer! A few key things can be improved in the show but nobody needs to “fix” Galadriel though - I have NEVER once thought such things as I was accused of yesterday. But Celeborn deserves his time onscreen. I refer you to @BenSimulator_1’s excellent take on Celeborn: /1

@vitaaeris If someone attacks, impugns, or disrespects my person with insane lies, as they certainly did here, I will read them for filth, regardless of gender. I’m not afraid to speak up for myself and there’s nothing between anyone’s legs that’s gonna make me defend myself less vigorously

@moonlarking Don’t like the shade, gurrrl? 💅 Then don’t get in my sunlight. You and your friends here came for me — pugnacious strangers spitting insane lies about me — so yeah I WILL DRAG YOU ALL without hesitation and I’ll be as shady and catty as I damn well please. Take a seat.

@countesslillian I’m not a lore bro but I do believe the narrative inconsistencies of this gorgeously produced show could be markedly improved by finding a mite better synergy with the original text. Is that a crime to say so? Having written for stage & TV myself professionally do I know nothing?

@fiery_undomiel You’re putting a very heavy foot on the gas of bullshit. I never said that in my many years of analysis and commentary on the show. I’ve NEVER once had these notions — yet you confidently put that horrid agenda in my mouth, never intended by me. Why do you cast these aspersions?!
