For roughly 21 hours, ~950 agents consume 210 million tokens. One agent examines raw DNA beside an unusual enzyme and sees something nobody specifically asked it to find: a CRISPR-like repeat array. It follows the anomaly, checks the surrounding biology and literature, and escalates it. Anthropic calls the system ART—array-associated reverse transcriptases. Its function is still unknown. It has not been shown to edit genes. REPORTER An AI scientist made a discovery. That’s its job. NEWTON Then look at the reruns. Anthropic repeated the campaign ten times.
