A dominant, predatory social order often needs a historically oppressed community as an outlet for collective rage, insecurity, and entitlement. Members of that order can murder men, sexually assault women, and seize land from the vulnerable group. Atrocities against Scheduled Castes are not isolated personal crimes. They are inflicted on individuals because they belong to that community.
