@pjharpy @crazy4myshelf Me saying "no worries, uwu, the author agrees with you" doesn't prevent this mistake from happening again. An understanding of why we need to analyze the text sans author *will* prevent it.
@pjharpy @crazy4myshelf i think it's very necessary, actually: OP said "I didn't know I was wrong" bc of the assumption that the author disagreed. I am correcting that "the author is always correct, no matter how stupid the analysis" assumption. Thus, dead author. The the author *agrees* is irrelevant
@pjharpy @crazy4myshelf what do you think 'the author is dead' means, in terms of analysis?
@positronicguy @thelastyateman @kotharmx @ItzKaosSzn @DesertCity66 So this word does best if it's generic and vaguely defined, but also including 'all art' in it makes it *too* vague and generic, so judging every art piece's inclusion individually is the way, no hard lines, but also, you NEED a line drawn or the word is powerless. Amazing stuff
@positronicguy @thelastyateman @kotharmx @ItzKaosSzn @DesertCity66 I may get back to this "here's some esoterica about why I reject your definition, but I won't be providing mine, lest we actually get to the meat of the matter" waffle, when I'm inebriated and can find it humorous instead of grating.
@positronicguy @thelastyateman @kotharmx @ItzKaosSzn @DesertCity66 this is not a gotcha. This is a "lets define our terms to the best of our abilities, so we know we're talking about the same thing" You think this discussion is a 'game' you can 'win' if you waffle through it enough, and I'm in no mood to have a conversation of that nature
@crazy4myshelf What, did Disney claim that what saved Anna was *checks storyboards* Elsa getting a grip of her powers due to distress and gratefulness? If so, they're ignoring their own text -that's not what the 'prophecy' says, or how Elsa experiences stress (canonically, before and after)
@crazy4myshelf actually, you are technically correct still, because this reading is not only fully supported by the text, it is the *better* interpretation of the text (narratively, poetically, sisterhoodily, etc) the author is dead, baby
@positronicguy @thelastyateman @kotharmx @ItzKaosSzn @ffdzguede @DesertCity66 Ok, then what is your definition of political, that only includes *some* art and excludes other art. Where is your line.
@positronicguy @thelastyateman @kotharmx @ItzKaosSzn @ffdzguede @DesertCity66 Ok, how do you define political in a way that excludes art
@positronicguy @thelastyateman @kotharmx @ItzKaosSzn @ffdzguede @DesertCity66 If a person was educated and having a different opinion, they would disagree differently than either refusing to accept that their interlocutors are using a different definition than them, or vaguely saying "what if i disagree, but in an intelectual way" and then never define it
@kotharmx @thelastyateman @positronicguy @ItzKaosSzn @ffdzguede @DesertCity66 If that was the point it was made incorrectly
@stillface87 @jpvanhoy @ItzKaosSzn As others have explained the intended politics are the opposite, but even then! You think a soldier listening to it to pump themselves up for war is apolitical?
@ItzKaosSzn Dude, even the fact that it's rock is political.
@ItzKaosSzn @ffdzguede @DesertCity66 Yes, it does. You having the privilege of not realising other's can't party, or you not caring about that, is *inherently* political
@number_pizza111 Adding Czechia to your examples is a dead giveaway you're either an absolute amateur or a cheap troll. "How odd, why can't my state's winery outsell the French" kinda behavior
@TheSportsManJC @Me1813512526782 @llDbGll @slitherwinglove Then you should have replied in a different manner, man. Read what you're reacting to, maybe.
@TheSportsManJC @Me1813512526782 @llDbGll @slitherwinglove You don't say.
@TheSportsManJC @Vlashtovichka @HashionDiscord @SERIK3001 @slitherwinglove Have you considered that's because you're an adult who hangs out with teachers, and not their peer? Like, why would they tell you. How would you even know unless they reported it.
@TheSportsManJC @Me1813512526782 @HashionDiscord @SERIK3001 @slitherwinglove I have experience of it extremely not resonating with *my* class (to the point we did a strike, may I remind you)
