Any private sector S&C coach that tells you to not train with your HS s&c coach (given that HS s&c program is solid) is not looking after your development. They’re strictly looking after their wallet. Sincerely, A private sector S&C coach.

Most youth kids cannot body weight squat 10 reps with ideal form. Push ups/? It’s even worse. Skipping? Don’t get me started. BASIC physical literacy/proficiency is becoming a rare commodity. Trust me… your 8-12 year old athlete does not need “enter sport” specific program/training.

You can never truly train at max speed if you have a skill focus drill / stick in hand / ball at feet present. It will always be done submax intensity even if effort is high. Putting the stick down and ball away actually promotes max intent/intensity that WILL translate better when you put the stick back in your hand / ball back at your feet.

These types of books always raise suspicion of being crunchy/corny. 2 chapters in and so far-not the case. Science based and easy to follow protocols (don’t need to do them all at once of course). Just great and simple reminders on how to live better and enjoy life more. This is NOT an optimization bro-book. Well done @hubermanlab

I hear you- Working in both the private and high school sector I also have to really cater schedules based on clubs. At least in my experience if I don’t, we just won’t get the kids to show up to lifts etc… I do think the beauty of kids who treat cross-country and track and field as their main sport is for the most part there is no club and if anything it’s only in the summer

Clown show. You also know they did a TON more junk before this video. In extreme heat. Want your players to bond better and be better in sport? 1) Hang out with each other. 2) Only do things that actually have a ROI in sport or performance. This stuff does absolutely nothing but harm athletes and make them resent training.
