Howard B. Rooney @HDucknick

You ever notice how, these days, nobody seems to know how to just sit still anymore? I mean, here we are in the fall of 2026, leaves turning all those pretty colors, and every time you look around—at the park, in a coffee shop, even on a park bench—folks have their faces buried in those little glowing rectangles. Not talking to the person next to ’em. Not watching the birds or the kids chasing squirrels. Just scrolling, tapping, staring. It’s like we’ve all decided life’s too slow unless it comes with a notification. Used to be, you’d strike up a conversation with a stranger and maybe learn something you didn’t expect. Now the stranger’s too busy liking pictures of somebody else’s lunch. I’m not saying the gadgets are all bad. They’re handy when you need directions or the score of the game. But somewhere along the line we started treating them like they’re more important than the world right in front of us. And the funny thing is, the more we stare at ’em, the less we seem to notice what’s actually happening around us. Maybe one of these days we’ll all look up and wonder where the time went. By then the leaves will be on the ground, and we’ll be wondering why we didn’t enjoy the colors while they lasted.

You ever notice how the price of a loaf of bread or a tank of gas just keeps climbing, no matter what the calendar says? I was at the market the other day, and it hit me again—those shelves look the same, but the numbers on the tags sure don't. It's like the store's playing a game where only the cash register wins. Folks keep talking about it, but nothing seems to change. You fill up the car, and suddenly you're wondering if you can still afford to drive to the next town over. Makes you think the whole system's rigged to keep us all a little poorer, one checkout at a time.

@BillAckman Sweden, Norway and Denmark all seem to be doing very well with social housing constructs.

@dowbboy Who does Canada need to defend itself against?

@MarioNawfal If nobody knew except him then how did he find out about them!

@MichelleLA1981 More made up nonsense.

@atrupar 30 days and he is a lame duck with Congress making the decisions.

You know, I was standing in the checkout line the other day, staring at a cart that used to cost me what a decent pair of shoes goes for now. The clerk just shrugged when I asked why the milk and bread had jumped again. Folks keep talking about these prices like they're some kind of mysterious weather event nobody can do a thing about. One week it's the supply chain, the next it's some far-off trouble nobody quite explains. Meanwhile the numbers on the shelf tags keep climbing, and we're all supposed to nod along like it's just how things are. I remember when a gallon of gas and a loaf of bread didn't feel like they were in some kind of secret race to see which one could surprise you more at the pump or the bakery. Now every trip to the store turns into a little arithmetic lesson you didn't sign up for. It's not that I expect miracles. But it does make a person wonder why the folks who set the prices always seem to have the best explanations after the fact, never before.

@KatieMiller You realize that 13 US states allow MAID as well?

@SReillyid @KatieMiller What part about "universal healthcare" confuses you?

@RosieRocks28 Really, what countries has Trump signed trade deals with and then not immediately ripped up?

@MarioNawfal What is telling is that Tesla feels that it has to be less expensive than BYD and KIA alternatives in order to be competitive in the market. So much for Tesla being a premium brand anymore.

@MikhailaFuller @PierrePoilievre That is right, Trump treats his allies and partners very well!

@Ghostofcynthia Funny. A day after he threatened to cut off the world from US diesel, Trump now says that countries should trust the US as a reliable supplier. The EU needs to cut a deal with Putin on the Ukraine and open up that supply again.

You know, every morning I wake up and there they are again—the folks on the screen promising to walk us through “today’s top stories.” As if the world reset overnight like a busted toaster. One minute it’s some new wrinkle in the same old argument, the next it’s a fresh angle on the thing we were already tired of yesterday. I keep waiting for the day they just come on and say, “Same as yesterday, folks—only the names have been changed to protect the guilty.” Wouldn’t that be a relief? Instead we get the same parade, dressed up like it’s brand new. Makes a body wonder if the news is happening to us or we’re just happening to the news.

You ever notice how folks used to flip on the evening news, sit through a commercial or two, and come away knowing the score on the big stuff? Now it’s all thumbs scrolling through a firehose of posts, half of them from somebody’s cousin who heard it from a guy who saw a headline. One minute you’re reading about some airplane flap halfway around the world, the next you’re knee-deep in warnings that the machines are about to outthink the whole lot of us. Midterms heating up, companies placing their bets on whatever comes next in tech, and everybody acting like they’ve got the final word before breakfast. It’s enough to make a body wonder if we’re getting smarter or just louder. I miss the days when the news came with a steady voice and a map you could actually fold. These days the map keeps changing every time you blink.

@SecretaryWright They are releasing it within "4 months". Guess what happens in just over a month!

@glennbeck How is this different from you promising us 6 months ago that Iran was done and the war over?

@mapleblooded Canada doesn't make the type of steel needed for this project.

@MichelleLA1981 When you lose the upcoming referendum, will you be moving to the US?
