I am a Russian speaking man living in Estonia. Both of my parents are Russians. The last thing I ever wish is Russia to come and "defend" me and other so-called Russian speaking people in Estonia and Baltics. Leave the f**king other countries alone. No one wants Russia here.

Reminder for the retards: no one forced russia or the soviets to invade another country. Not in 1939 when the soviets invaded Poland and Finland. Not in 1940 when the soviets occupied and annexed Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Not in 1956 when soviet tanks crushed Hungary. Not in 1968 when soviet-led Warsaw Pact forces invaded Czechoslovakia. Not in 1979 when the soviets invaded Afghanistan. Not in 1992 when russian forces directly intervened in Moldova’s Transnistria conflict. Not in 2008 when russian forces went deep into Georgia and occupied Georgian territory. Not in 2014 when russia seized and annexed Crimea and intervened militarily in eastern Ukraine. And not in 2022 when russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. And spare me the bullshit about russian “security guarantees” and promises. In 1975, the soviets signed the Helsinki Final Act, committing themselves to the non-use of force, the inviolability of borders, territorial integrity and non-intervention. In 1991, russia joined the Alma-Ata Declaration recognising the territorial integrity of the former soviet republics and the inviolability of their existing borders. In 1994, russia signed the Budapest Memorandum, explicitly promising to respect Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty and existing borders and to refrain from the threat or use of force against it. Then it seized Crimea in 2014. In 1997, russia signed the Treaty of Friendship with Ukraine, recognising the inviolability of their existing borders, renouncing territorial claims and committing itself to non-use of force. In 1999, russia committed at the OSCE Istanbul summit to withdraw its remaining forces from Moldova by the end of 2002. It did not. In 2003, russia signed a treaty formally establishing and recognising the russia-Ukraine state border. In 2008, russia accepted the six-point Georgia ceasefire requiring russian forces to withdraw to the positions they held before hostilities. The Council of Europe subsequently documented delays and failures in implementing those obligations. If you believe anything russia says, you are either paid by russia, retarded, or both.

There seems to be a new social media trend of people declaring that “Russia is not our enemy.” Agreed. We want nothing from Russia. Our demands could hardly be more limited: Russia should go back to Russia and stay there. Nothing more. But nothing less.

A quick reality check on the recurring “the Baltics are next – we’re doomed” narrative. 🔹 Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia are not bystanders waiting to see what others do. Any Russian incursion would first face Baltic forces. “Limited incursion” scenarios often intentionally overlook this basic point. 🔹 We have spent years preparing - and learning from Ukraine - for exactly these threats. Little green men, border incidents, sabotage – none of this would come as a surprise. 🔹 Article 3 comes before Article 5. We have to be able to defend ourselves, and we are building that capacity. If we fight, we will not fight alone. I have no doubt about that. 🔹 Allied commitments are very real. Germany is deploying a full brigade to Lithuania. Canada leads NATO forces in Latvia, the UK in Estonia. Allied jets patrol Baltic airspace. And shoot Russian drones. 🔹 This does not mean everything is fine. There are capability gaps, and European governments have good reasons to warn about a higher risk of escalation. But there is a big difference between taking the threat seriously and declaring the Baltics doomed. Anonymous social-media accounts and emotion-driven headlines predicting inevitable defeat do not improve deterrence. They play into the aggressor’s hands.

The flags of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania were first raised at the UN 35 year ago today. It was almost exactly 70 years earlier, in September 1921, that all three joined the League of Nations, supporting the first ill-fated attempt to build a rules-based world of sovereign nations ..before the Nazi-Soviet Pact delivered its fatal blow. As a lasting consequence of that pact, the occupied Baltic countries were the only members of the League of Nations not subsequently able to join the United Nations. 35 years ago, delegates of all three Baltic countries could finally take their seats where they belong and get back to helping build that world for others too. The problem with the League of Nations back then and the United Nations today is only that it’s not rules-based enough and not at the service of sovereign nations enough. The hill we are prepared to die on: A rules-based world of sovereign nations is far, far better than an age of empires, and not just for small nations. One leads to widespread peace and prosperity, the other to widespread death and destruction. We do not need to keep repeating this experiment.
