Thank you for running the numbers. I'm sure it took a lot of effort and I very much appreciate it. Frankly, I don't think your figures will surprise many microcap investors and MCC members. Perhaps I could question how you're handling acquired pitches (for example, Charles River bought Hemacare in January 2020 - how does your simulated CAGR take that into account?). Yet I generally agree with your numbers, although I draw a different conclusion. It is the very rare MCC pitch or microcap stock which is a multi-year "buy and hold." Almost every MCC member understands this truth. Most are short-term rentals; often the underlying thesis will not or did not play out. Indeed, if you examine the chart on your 3/n "Return by Year Pitched" the data suggests that the difference between the Mean Return and Median Return in recent years are much tighter than older cohorts. In reality, it takes time for a microcap pitch to reach its logical endpoint: a rare super multi-bagger or the much more typical disappointment / busted investment. MCC writeup returns in 2023-2026 will likely look similar to older cohorts in a few more years in my opinion. The crucial question - in truth, the only important question for a MCC member or subscriber - Can an intelligent, informed, inquisitive MCC participant exit his Future Loser microcaps with a minimum of loss AND also identify and own a rare super-bagger Future Winner microcap for the bulk of its gains? If the answer is yes then consider investing in microcaps. If your honest response is no or probably not then there is a world of other compelling assets to investigate. Arguably, the very qualities that make microcaps such poor "buy and hold" index candidates also produce the conditions for these rare but fantastic opportunities. Why should life changing returns be anything but rare and difficult? That being said, here are two criticism of MicroCapClub: first, given the extraordinary challenge for a pitch to achieve super-bagger status, or even produce a positive return, intensive criticism should be the norm and not a board exception. Alas, human nature makes this difficult. People love their own ideas and dislike seeing them dissected. But we should all actually prefer our ideas treated harshly but fairly. Or even unfairly! Here's a controversial second point: given the skewed returns, I strongly believe few investors should solely specialize in microcap stocks. Why? Not just because catching a MCC super multi-bagger leprechaun and holding onto to him is difficult, but because the high microcap failure rate TRAINS investors to frequently trade ... in order to minimize losses. Indeed, some of the investors with the largest individual stock microcap gains do NOT solely specialize in microcaps. I suspect these cap-promiscuous investors enjoyed owning-and-holding successes in $CSU.TO or $MA, etc. which trained them to handle the ups-and-downs of rare microcap multi-baggers better than dedicated microcap specialists. But there are exceptions to this exception, I recognize. Thanks again for your informative and thought-provoking series of posts.

Agree that using the term "crisis" is unnecessary but certainly the housing market is more challenging now than for me (2000 1st home) or my parents (early 70s): 1) Home price to household income ratio is elevated, although off recent highs. If you're a responsible couple, trying to save 10 or 20%, a ratio close to 5 rather than 3-4 is a significant challenge, adding year(s) to the goals. 2) Higher interest rates dampen mortgage payment differentials between back then and now, but homeowners can refi into lower rates mortgages - you can't redo your house purchase. In addition, cutting a mortgage rate from 14 to 7% creates more absolute dollar savings than shift from 7% to 3.5% although % change is similar. Old generation fortunate that significant rate relief was on the way. 3) Easy to preach "live farther away" or "save more" or choose a "smaller home" which is all possible to *a degree* but just underlines that market is challenging, especially when other big adult purchases such as used cars are also more expensive at the moment. Of course, relief would come easier if more young people embraced market solutions rather than government "answers" that deter supply-side responses.

@YouGov Imo what is crucial is the financial, regulatory and cultural restrictions the UK risk-adverse 73% burdens the risk-tolerant 21%. Nothing wrong with being risk-adverse as long as one RESPECTS risk. But UK does not.
