More problems with my university regarding my dyslexia. We are tarnished with a brush and given extremely vague 'help/advice' to a very broad and complex learning disability. Dyslexia affects many people in many different ways, there is no one way to deal with the disability.
What action do you believe needs to be taken to provide adequate conditions/environment for dyslexics and other disabilities in learning?
Do universities take disabilities serious enough? Throughout my experience at university, I feel an overwhelming lack of support and understanding when dealing with my dyslexia. I would love to hear everyone's experience with university (disabled or not).
Thank you for the responses guys, I can tell from all your tweets that there is much more that needs to be done in teaching students with disabilities, I myself will be working towards tackling this issue in any way I can.
@Developer_Mike_ @1in5awareness In Canada, there's different legislation for support at post-secondary, dyslexia must by severe (below 15th percentile) - a functional limitation. Students that receive accommodations at high school do not necessary receive the same at post-secondary: IEP does not transfer up.
